Congrats, so when you getting your Kinect tattoo?

It's not unnecessary. It's relevant. For the many that spoke ill will against Kinect - especially on these forums, only a fraction have acknowledged it's success. When a thread comes along to praise it's achievements, it's shot down with unjustified cynicism.

Obviously their bellies aren't full yet, more crow for them.

I will admit, I was skeptical of it selling well at $150, that is, until I heard it had a 500 million dollar marketing campaign. My biggest problem with Kinect though, is its software, which is lacking at the moment, although this could change.

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Maybe I wasn't paying attention but aside from the odd thread here and there about how "Kinect doesn't work" (and it does) I thought everyone pretty much knew Kinect was gonna be a smash hit.  I mean preorders, media buzz, Microsoft raising their predictions, etc.  I'm not surprised.

Of course I was the guy that predicted 2 million sales on week one........

I too had heard from a few friends that this product was too expensive for their tastes, that they doubted it could go mainstream (and thus improve), and that it would be a temporary fad.  Needless to say, as the OP points out, in only a few short months opinions have rapidly changed.

I do not know if this is a fair comparison or not; but, for the fun of thought, the Kinect sales before/after remind me alot of when Wii first came out.  I know alot of folks who simply did not see the point, were dissapointed in the non-HD system, thought that the product would be too limited, that there were no "real games," etc.  Well, once everyone was buying the Wii, suddenly folks who never had even tried it were buying it simply because it was the "it" toy.  Well, many years later the Wii still is the "it" toy; perhaps Kinect's success will be similiar.

In the end tho, I doubt that either will see the appropriate amounts of love on these forums :( Nintendo Fanboys seem too content playing their awesome games and Kinect fanboys seem to get driven off by the torch-wielding mobs. Oh well; enjoy the games!

Everyone knew and everyone acknowledges that it was a success, hence why this thread is pointless and is only meant to stir up shit.

I don't really care, but I just felt like chiming in.

The new argument these days is whether or not Kinect is considered a separate console and/or gaming platform.

I am also sorry to hear about your 360. Even more so considering you just got Nier.

On the plus side, I couldn't find Nier on 360 so I got it for PS3.  Why it hasn't shown up in my sig is a mystery.  I played it for about an hour and the controls feel nice and tight.  I got Star Ocean for the 360 because I couldn't find it for the PS3.  So I got the games I want, just not for the consoles I intended.

And to keep things on topic, I like Kinect.  There.  That should do it.

Your point?

This has been said so many times already that it's getting tiresome.

Oh really?  I haven't seen any threads like this on vgchartz.

If you are tiresome of this perhaps you shouldn't waste your time commenting on a thread, if you really are that tired how do you summon the energy to not only read what I wrote but also take the time to post a response?

I don't really care if there are a bunch of these threads or not. I did find this post particularly funny though. I also remember wading through a shit load of Kinect shit talk threads around here for some time..

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

KINECT is the FASTEST selling device EVER in history

I've read several articles claiming this to be true, and maybe it is.

However as ioi pointed out in another thread, Kinect has not suffered the severe shortages that plagued the Wii back in 2006/2007.  For well over a year Wii systems were incredibly difficult to come by;  the day that stores were expecting new shipments you could see a line of people already waiting outside for them to open their doors, ready to snatch them up immediately.  Kinect was sold out here and there, sure, but could still be found at many stores and Amazon even before Christmas, and is currently readily available at most stores (at least in my area) including Amazon.  Not to mention that Kinect is capitalizing on the expanded market that Nintendo themselves helped establish four years ago.

Of course this doesn't change the fact of your statement, and I'm not coming down on Kinect at all; I think its success is tremendous for our industry, but let's see if by next holiday it has continued to outpace the Wii in the same respected time frame...
