I generally get all my gaming news from news blogs (Kotaky, Destructoid, and Joystiq) and then just follow the sources if I want to read more.  For videos, I generally check Gametrailers about once a day but most videos I see are usually in the story itself.

-edit-

Also, I don't think I've ever actually used this site for news.  The closest I get to using it for news is if I spot something on the forums before I spot it on a news blog.  I'm not a huge fan of the current layout on gamrfeed and the review site is kind of a pain to navigate so I stay away from it, but if the video site you talked about in the OP is good I could see myself using that.  I get errors all the time in Gametrailers and I would love to find an alternative.

Kotaku, Destructoid and Joystiq all use the exact same news format as gamrFeed, so I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.

Click "Condensed". Much better.

- The site has to become more lenient on it's members. Members should be allowed to come in and give a strong opinion about something, without the fear of getting banned because it might hurt the feelings of a few fanboys. The reason why Neogaf is such a great place for discussion is because actual debate is allowed and the mods don't care for the feelings of their more sensitive members. Sometimes a VGChartz thread really hits the right note and a long 30 page discussion takes place and it's actually interesting, but most of the time they hit a brick at the 4th page because everyone's too scared to keep going on. Trolls should be banned, but I believe there is a difference between a trollish remark and a strong opinion. Also, I should be able to swear whenever I want. I don't have to swear at other people to insult them, but I shouldn't have to feel guilty about saying 'fuckin Nintendo' when I'm having a rant as to why a new F-Zero hasn't been made.

Anyway, that's my thoughts. Enjoy.

Did you just say gamrConnect moderation is harsh while praising the leniency of NeoGAF mods?

This thread confuses me greatly.

I go to gametrailers and they are free.

Wait? Did you mention anything about paid users?

The reason you guys are not getting enough money to run this site is the downhill the game industry is heading toward. Onlike the haydays of the the ps1 and ps2, the future was bright but now, huge marketing buget from M$ for their HAlOs and CoD are killing  other publishers and developers. Thus many mushroom gaming sites would soon fizzle out.

Good luck with paid subscription.

Huh? The paid users part refers to the data, VGChartz Pro will offer advanced tools for industry and this will come via a paid subscription. It has nothing to do with the day-to-day content on the site which will obviously remain free to view.

If one wants to view vgchartz data, they gotta pay?

So that someday, no idiot sits freely and tweets  about your numbers.

I think vgchartz is too young with this gamble.

No.

Everything that is free now will be free then, for everyone, which unfortunately includes Mr Greenberg.

If a large publisher wants extra information (and no, I don't know what that information might be), they will have to pay extra. It's pretty much the same as what happens now, but more structured.

Clicking condensed helps, I think it's just the color scheme and the large amount of empty space on the right.  Destructoid has a bunch of crap there that doesn't get in the way (though their page has been pretty slow the past few months for me so I don't go there much anymore), Kotaku has the various stats, and while Joystiq has all the empty space too, they at least have a color scheme I like better.

What can I say, I'm finicky.

Neogaf mods ban people for stupid things, but it isn't frequent and they do allow a large amount of freedom in what you can post. As an example, if I was a dick to Evilore and continued to post stupid stuff about him or thing's he just doesn't generally like (which isn't a part of the rules) he'll ban me. The same thing applies to all the mods on that site. What makes the discussions good is that I can be extremely negative about a product, argue against people about their opinion on that product and pretty much say whatever I want, just as long as it isn't false or spamming.

I find that on VGChartz, the mods have a 'please everyone' mentality, which is wrong, because some people are far too sensitive to negativity and debate and so this leads to short threads and a lack of proper discussion. This has been my experience.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
