Forums - Nintendo - Sakaguchi: "Make no game for a while if The Last Story is poorly received"

@noname2200 & mr. khan

Does the game's battle segments look somewhat MMORPGish to you? Sakaguchi feels that the game does, in a sense, resemble a sort of single player MMORPG in that you experience a 30 to 40 hour quest with a party of six friends who speak throughout. Also, at the system level, the game has some elements that resemble the systems one finds in an MMORPG.

thats right in the ariticle, I dont know how you guys are missing this, as I have stated I hate MMORPGs so anything even close to it is an automatic no buy for me

I'm going by what I've seen and read, not by what the creator ultimately states formed part of his inspiration.  And if a one-liner makes you want to skip out, so be it.

On an unrelated note, I ask that you please refrain from blowing up your text: it comes across like shouting, similar to using caps lock.

not to be offensive or anything, but that is quite a dumb thing to say actually. It might turn out to be just the right mix for you. besides, i think you missed the "in a sense" part in the interview which translates to "theoretically", "possibly but not really". It means that it might seem that way when it isn't.

If i lose access to this profile as well....I'm done with this site.....You've been warned!!.....whoever you are...

Happy Wii60 user. Me and my family are a perfect example of where hardcore meets casual and together mutate into something awesome.

@I copied and paste right from the article so when i typed it just used the text from the font, wasnt trying to come across as crazy, OT whos word to go by better than the guy who is actually making the game??? If the man says it plays like an MMORPG who are we to say otherwise??? for the record I really hope it doesnt im rooting for this game

Aye. It's like halfway between Resident Evil Mercenaries (or Gears or any over-the-shoulder game) and Mass Effect

Part of the reason i feel this has a good shot in the west, though on paper Monster Hunter should be big in the West too, since it's basically a boss-focused Diablo

I fail to see a connection between MH and Diablo and if I had seen one, I definitely wouldn't have bought MH Tri.

General loot based-ness. Honestly i could be way off base as i've never played Diablo (PC gaming has never agreed with me. The few times i've tried it have led to me almost bricking my Dad's computer with poorly-installed graphics cards)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

This game's battle system looks to be a seamless, real-time system with a few flourishes such as the QTEs, the Magic Circles, the destructible environments, and the big parties (seriously, SIX party members at once?) which is fine by me. It's not like FFXII's which was a convolued, glorified turn-based system. And gamers had BETTER buy this because I am a little sick of gamers being nothing more than talk when it comes to new titles.

@yanamaster  its dumb for me to not like a genre?? ok then I guess im dumb.  Ive played all the big MMORPGs and even the hybrids like Phantasy Star, MH. They are good games but they are not for me. I find them to be tedious and boring. Now if Last Story turns out to be a game I actually like so be it, but honestly im getting some FF12 vibes and that game got boring but its still on my maybe list

Sakaguchi is the new Crying Wolf.

Sounds he's like going in with the same mentality as he did with the original Final Fantasy.

When someone works as this is his last opportunity to do it, it will achieve the best results.

Above: still the best game of the year.
