While this article may be satire, there has been a belief within the industry (and from many gamers) that there is only one correct path to produce better game; and this is why the often fail to understand why some games are successful where other games are not, or why they don't understand why some people prefer to play games they think are low quality.

Actually there is only one way to have success in the industry (considering sales wise), but the industry decides to go the oppostite direction and go Holywood crazy.

I've read worse articles than this thing, but that's really the only good thing I can say about this one.

It is the exactly same article as the IGN's one but with changed names :P

It looks like the hate towards traditional 2D platformers continues.  I don't understand why some people continue to post inaccurate trash like this when it's clear that millions of people, myself included, are perfectly happy buying great platformers that are made by skilled professionals, rather than whining about some feature or other that got left off.

Why do you use an article that praises Super Meat Boy, and considers it superior, as evidence that they hate traditional 2D platformers?

Take a second look at the justifications used in the article.  It is not saying SMB is a better game than DKCR because SMB is better designed/paced/ etc.  It instead resorts to looking at either superficial elements:  number of levels, or price tags, or file size.  What 2D platformer-lover is going to care about those things instead of the quality of the games?

I agree with the (satirical?) blogger about one thing. A lot of smaller titles don't get the attention they deserve because well-known titles with big ad budgets have the exposure and brand recognition that tend to eclipse efforts of smaller developers.

Even among gamers here who are better informed of releases, downloadable and independent games take the backburner as fans discuss the latest generic rpg or fps.
