Forums - Nintendo - Dead Space iOs better tan Wii version?

EA should change their name to EF whenever they make a Wii game, instead of being called Electronic Arts , it should be Electronic Farts.

have you had a chance to try any of them on a tv?

Chopper 2 and The Incident support TV out, but it's not a feature I've bothered to use.

And yes, it's embarrassing, but iOS gets far better 3rd party support than this generation's best-selling home console.

The only words I can offer in defense of these developers is that iOS devices are more similar in architecture and specifications to the PCs that these programmers wish they were coding for than the Wii is. OpenGL support, tons of RAM, etc. Oh, and no Nintendo games around to make them look bad.

Because EA missed the Wii and to convince investors that they made the right decision by doing that, they had to sabotage many of their Wii games to make them sell less than they could potentially have.

Dead Space Extraction is a prime example of this as before its release EA openly said that it was a test to see how such games sell on the Wii. While at first most suspected this was just said to trick Wii owners in buying the game in order to support mature hardcore games on the Wii, it's pretty clear by now that it actually was a message to investors to pay close attention to this game's sales. And just like that, DSE now serves as EA's ultimate excuse to not have to bother with serious Wii support anymore.

Too bad that the evidence just keeps piling up. EA's recent treatment of NBA Jam, a game that went from being hyped to a game nobody wanted anymore and John Ricitiello's recent interview in which he once again openly states how much of a problem Nintendo and the Wii are.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-12-16-ea-USD99-wii-would-explode-at-retail

Not to mention the Wii version of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit which is just another example of how EA handles their big franchises on the Wii. It's no surprise that EA has a hard time to sell their games on the Wii, but that seems to be exactly what they want. Nobody in their right mind would expect million selling titles with that level of quality.

Man i have totally forgotten the NBA Jam Fiasco :/! and now thatI remember, this werent the guys that make this?

nba jam is actually quite fun! online or not.... it does feel like it could have used a bit more effort, but basically there's a game which could have gone much further with some decent promoting... i still think it's a good fit for wii...

Also, EA could have made a RE4 style game with dead space and really clean up! considering capcom isn't doing anything with that direction and RE fans are so hungry for something that even the "chronicles" games are selling a million...

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

EA is about making money, I doubt they went out of their way to sabotage another path of revenue just to stick it to Nintendo and Nintendo fans. EA aren't the only company that have had trouble selling games on the Wii and like most other publishers, they've found that other audiences are more open to spend money on their products, so they shift resources around to provide for the people who are actually buying third party games.

EA has been losing money for years and they needed a scapegoat. Let's look at their possible excuses when investors ask them about their current position:

1. We made bad decisions, predicted the market wrong and as a result our company is on the decline now.

Not viable, suggests that the company is badly managed.

2. Our current position is not our fault, it's because consumers of a certain gaming platform are very picky about their purchases and it's not in our powers to change anything about that.

Viable, puts the whole blame on Nintendo.

Your argument rests on the premise that EA knows how to do business, but they haven't been profiting for quite some time now. All of EA's major development teams are and have been working on games that won't be released on the Wii. Your claim is that non-Nintendo platforms make them more money, but there is no evidence for that to be true.

Quite the contrary is the case. Last generation EA didn't need any Nintendo platform to post profits, but now they are apparently dependent on them to make money. What this basically means is that something has gone horribly wrong for them on non-Nintendo platforms this generation.

Oh and btw I am a fan of you Rol :D! i visit this site since last year and your arguments are great, and you make funny  threads :)

looking forward to one of your threads :P

It's not covering the frontal cortex right!

Man it's not that hard to be a better game than Dead Space Extraction, for a light gun game, yes it has good graphics and an actual story when most light gun games don't, on the other hand it forgets that it's a lightgun game and isn't that fun with few enemies on screen, puzzles to slow things down, and it's just underwhelming in general when you play House of the Dead Overkill and it's just over the top fun, add to that, it was also buggy.

So Dead Space iOS being a third person shooter and probably more fun than DSE?  It's likely though I worry about controls and how scary a portable could be... though Resident Evil DS did it's job well so there is hope.

People mentioning tin foils (...) about theories regarding EA sabotaging thei Wii games on purpose forget that this is a multi billion market. People have KILLED for a lot less (a lot less) than that, do you think that just because the subject matter is games the business people here play according to some different set of rules than the usual rules the business world goes by?

I would not do that if I were you. Rol's idea that EA has intentionally sabotaged their Wii support is not unfounded.

In 1990 they intentionally made a poor football game (Joe Montana Football) in effort to give Sega a videogame yet keep Madden as the premier football title. They PURPOSELY scaled it back in nearly every aspect.

The same thing applies here: EA butchered the shit out of every single one of their franchises that appeared on the Wii except Tiger Woods, but then again, Tiger ethered himself after his sex scandal. Just look at it:

Dead Space No longer an FPS; rail shooter with more dialogue than gunning.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is the worst one graphically after like 3 or 4 NFS games released on the console
Madden After sales increased every year from 07-09, they changed the artstyle to Kiddie Mode and sales decreased by 25%
NBA Jam Botched release; threatened to release on the HD consoles for free for Pete's sake
SSX SSX Blur had the worst metacritic of any of the SSX games ever
FIFA Released the Wii version later than when the PS3/360 ones came out
Sims 7 Sims games in 4 years, including MySims collection
PR Badmouthing the Wii pretty much the entire generation, while throwing everything along with the kitchen sink at the 360. Still post losses every other quarter

Endless bullshit from Electronic Arts

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."
