A lack of holiday anything hurt Sony in America. We aren't exactly racing games fans or buy the most expensive system in a holiday time where both alternatives can be/are 100 dollars cheaper.

Yeah I think SOCOM and LBP would have really helped the PS3 this holiday.

Correct, but that raises another point of worry, namely that the environment is demonstrably able and willing to nurture higher sales (hence your competitors' numbers), but your own product has seen a decline from the same period last year.  If I'm an executive at Sony, I have to wonder why is their stuff doing great while my stuff is not, especially when I've invested tens, maybe hundreds, of millions into launching an expensive peripheral which is intended to expand my market?

This is a very plausible explanation, I agree.  However, it also means that you expect the PS3 to continue performing poorly relative to the competition and last year, as well as a concession that Move has not done its job of moving (lol) units.

We are talking about America, right? Their stuff has always done better since this gen started. We had the same meltdown last year when the Slim was hot and the 360 still outsold the PS3 in November. It's not a matter of products, Americans just prefer what MS has to offer right now, that's all.
