I did notice quite a lot of games that said "NEW" right at the front of the queue, but that was a good 2 to 3 weeks ago.

I hadn't been on for a bit prior to that, i know there wasn't any games this week or last week, so i guess as you say they released game pack 13's games all at once.

I'm on level 18 and a bit, 31 medal points to go, with up to 18 medal points obtainable per game all i need is 2 good (or decent i suppose) games and i'm home free.

As for the games? your spot on buddy, nothing but absolute turd games now for like the last 3 months minimum.

@Ronster, yeah its such a shame.  In the end the existance and success of xbox live arcade made a service like game room impossible.  Developers don't need a service like that to push their old arcade games when they can package them up and sale them on their own.  But its a shame because I could probably name at least a 100 really great old arcade games that they could have brought back that never made it.  And even Konami, who has plenty of games on that list, is not releasing what they could. It's almost as if they are thinking, okay, we'll release these few games on game room because people don't want them that much...

Fun as it was, in the end I just wish I had saved the large amount of money I threw into it.

I can't even get one damn day to play games this month. God I can't wait until at least half of the semester is gone.

(I miss having midterms, instead of assignments.)

OK.  I have heard a bunch of you offer feedback on the decrease of platinum games since last season... Thanks.

Therefore, I just adjusted the rule for platinums from 10 down to 5 owners required.

There will be a corresponding league point adjustment in the next update for this change.

But, going forward the platinum game list is much larger and there are many opportunities to maximize the league points you can earn in a week.

EDIT:  Originally said there would be no league point update.  Now there will be as I found a simple way to do it!

Boo Platinums have lost their real meaning with this change I feel, they should be for people that have 100% a game I feel (or perhaps 90% ....)

oh well, just my opinion, if the masses like it this way then so be it I'm sure lazy people like Machina are thrilled.

The feedback that I have received cites three things as important to platinums:

  • The bragging rights that you have the highest score in the league for a given game
  • The bragging rights that you have scored higher in more games then other people in the league
  • The bragging rights that you persisted your way through the game long enough to get the platinum

None are diminished by this change.  It is still very tough to get platinums in this league (and keep them).  You have to thoroughly play a game to have any hope of a platinum.  And for the games where it is easy to platinum (aka TMNT, Avatar BE, King Kong, etc.) the 34% rule still applies so we don't end up with platinums that are easily obtained.

Yes finally my well deserved Need For Speed Shift Platinum award.

But geeeez it's embarrassing to also get the Juiced 2 platinum with only 15/1000G. Only played it for maybe an hour or less.

Perhaps there should be a min % of max gamerscore unlocked before a game becomes platinum. I see many platinum retail games where the high gs is well under 500. The lower the initial platinum gamerscore, the more chances for it to change hands. Thus people will be scoring a ton of league points from platinums. League scoring will become unbalanced.

I'll admit I thought it sucked when I lost my Mega Man 9 plat due to there being fewer members this season. But, I'd rather wait a while, or even never, for it to reach 10 users than see a game like NBA LIVE 06 get a plat. So if I ran out and rented that game I could get 7 league points next week? The min 10 user plat rule prevents some terrible games from ever becoming a plat. There's a reason why some of these games will never see 10 users.

edit: I just realized no one will ever be able to match Areseris in NBA LIVE 06 because EA shut down the servers. So this game will be a plat forever...

@ Neoratt, fair enough but I still disagree. Platinums should be hard to achieve, someone having under 500 gamerscore in a game doesn't really show real effort and isn't really "platinum status" imo.

I think possibly 800 GS or more for retail and 150 for Arcade games is a good benchline.
