Well, I love to feel that what I've chosen is "better" in some way.

And I like to see people who don't like the numbers crying, ;D.

You don't need sales to get that feeling. If you chose Nintendo, then what you have is better by default.

Well, of course. Sales just add to the glory, :D.

What are you guys smoking?

LOL,owned.

I don't care, never have. The only reason i even remotely care about "Software" sales is because it usualy means SEQUEL! and total whoration of the series.

What gamer doesn't like to see numbers go up. Score, stars, xp, money, rank, nr of items, levels.

It would be nice if the increasing lead of ps3 in Europe would lead to some more euro centered games. The new need for speed hot pursuit is great, but I miss the localization of the original. Racing around france and germany with the cops speaking the local language. Rallying in Sweden and the UK country side is also sorely missed.

I have nothing better to do during vacation.

Above: still the best game of the year.

It's fascinating to watch the numbers climb, the industry change and the human reactions surrounding these events.

This.   It was especially interesting in the early years to see if Nintendo's risky and unconventional strategy would work, and to a lesser extent, Sony's.   More interesting was watching the fanboys rail against the Wii sales, as if somehow Wii was going to doom the industry they love.   Turns out they were wrong, there's long of great games for everyone.

Now it's interesting to see those same people embracing the copycat strategy of Move / Kinect and no longer feel threatened by it, despite it's now being done by their 'core' system and not a console they'd have ignored anyway.

The industry is changing and in some respects growing up.  It's not just for teenaged boys (or so the perception went) now it's becoming truly mainstream.  It'll be real interesting to see what comes next.

Indeed, shows that a lot of people were opposing motion controls simply out of spite and petulant behavior rather than a real hatred (or disproval) for (of) the concept.

I don't, I can't even remember the last time I looked at the numbers.

I used to care, 2 years ago, when I barely knew anyone IRL who owned a PS3. So I decided to look up the PS3's numbers to see how well it was doing. I found this website and noticed that the PS3 isn't doing that bad. So I just shrugged and stuck around.

Sales are like penis size: purely for bragging rights and to track profit.
