Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto response to Insominiac Spherical World Claim -> Is that a PC Game?

@The Djib: You are also taking the content out of the context, that was just a quick summary of the Interview. While some people is giving Insominiac quite a hard time. You and a few others (depend on which forum. blog, etc you visit) are also doing the same thing to Miyamoto.

Edit: Can we just drop this now... This is getting annoying...

Edit2: Also, if anyone ever get the whole Interview, I'll paste over it on the first post and make a mention of it on the last post of this thread to end this whole debate.

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

Firstly,to those giving insomniac a hard time over their comments.Do any of you know what they actually said?As far as i know it was along the lines of "we would like to think, that miyamoto was inspired by the spherical worlds in ratchet".This in no way implies that they think they came up with the idea originally.
If that wasn't enough they then went on neogaf and explained their comments. they said they have the upmost respect for miyamoto and that their comments were more wishful thinking Imoon their part than actually thinking miyamoto copied them
Secondly, judjing by the original post it sounds like miyamoto went out of his way to be insulting, imo he could of just answered that question with a simple no and explanation why,and justleft it at that.

So its perfectly fine for us to trust Insomniac when they say they meant no harm and it was an innocent statement, but its not ok to believe someone who runs as many teams, and is as busy as Miyamoto REALLY DOESNT know what the hell Ratchet and Clank is?

Technically, we could say he ripped off Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's "The Little Prince", which had the same idea but was published back in 1943.

Also, the storybook in Mario Galaxy reminded me very much of St. Exupéry's illustrations, so much so that I see it as a homage to the book (and it's worth paying homage to).

Yep , that could be , does Mario has to take care of a rose to ? :P

Anywas , I think hes being just arogant . I bet he and the entire Nintendo crew was looking at the sales of the PS2 and Ratchet and Clank and saying : ,, man I wish ours would do as well to ... "

Best selling Ratchet and Clank Game: 2.93m Worst Selling Mario game. (Mario Sunshine): 5.91m Come again? Ratchet and Clank isn't even a blip on their radar i'd imagine. When you do something in the industry you the people who are the best in the industry. If you were the best why would you pay attention to people who are doing things worse then you? Even critical acclaim wise, a Ratchet Game has yet to reach the level of Mario Sunshine, the grand failure of the mario line. I really don't think he knows what R&C is. I barely knew what it was before I came to this site and i own a PS2.

He did say that he could make a game like halo if he wanted, when he hasnt done anything like that before, even zelda took two average shots before he got a link to the past right. but the guys a genius

Issue number 25 of the Nintendo UK magazine asked the man behind Mario what he thought about Insomniac's comments that they were flattered that the spherical realms of Mario Galaxy were inspired by Ratchet & Clank. Miyamoto surprisingly asked if Ratchet & Clank was a PC game and stated that Nintendo had the original idea for spherical words way back in the N64 days. He was quick to reassure that it was not an idea from anywhere else and stated he's never seen Rathcet & Clank before.

Comment: Haha... Well... Ratchet & Clank is pratically none existent in Japan anyway... Take that with what you will...

Pretty under handed of him to say that. In the very least he should have been slightly PR about it. But really, all this man spews is self centered, egotistical, elite artist avant garde bull crap.

Nintendo should lock him in a room and tape his mouth shut.

Or he was being honest and hasn't seen R&C?

Do you have any proof of your statements whatsoever apart from this quote and the halo one (which was taken hugely out of context) when from everything I have heard Miyamoto is actually an extremely humble man - from what I have heard he refuses to take more than a normal wage even though he is a genius.

wow, sounds like everyone has blown this out of proportion to make someone look like a bad guy here. IMO, no badguys.

Miyamoto just doesn't play games, and he doesn't think that R&C was some kind of holy figure to gamers. Your belief that miyamoto is a big gamer and knows everything that we do is junk. Miyamoto doesn't watch TV much, he doesn't game. He plays a little bit of his Nintendo console if one of his friends gets him excited about a game and that's it. He isn't from marketing where he has to know every little detail about all of the consoles.

Insomniac was just being hopeful that their game had an affect on the god of gaming. There is nothing wrong with hoping that you are big enough to have had your games played by your idle.

The bad guy - you for being stupid enough to have to paint a bad guy everytime someone offends your precious holy figures. Get a life.

Sounds like this is the first thing you've ever heard him say.

LOL!!!

OK, 1st he says he doesnt know what it is, how is someone not knowing what it is, and then guessing what platform it is on, an insult? Is there some any indication that they were talking about a sony developer anywhere in the known part of the converstation. The pc is the biggest platform since forever, so its the best bet to guess that if you truely have no idea who a developer makes games for. There's no reason to believe this is any kind of ego or insult related thing.
