DK had an amazing start, it's NSMB Wii all over again.

It really isn't.

NSMB Wii opened up to over 900k units in Japan.

DKCR didn't even sell a third of that.

Unless you're doing what I think you're doing...

VGC's 90s data is actually based off Enterbrain (ie: Famitsu) and shipment figures I thought?

And who's trying to make something look better than it is?  I'm just bringing data that covers 70% of the market directly (more than any other game sales tracking service in any other region in fact), and Famitsu is data I always bring into JP sales threads.  This is a Medica Create thread, if you only acknowledge VGC data, then uh... why are you in here again?

And trying to shit all over Sony?  I thought I was trying to make something look better than it is?  So tell me console warrior, which is it?

DKCR and GT5 are very comparable so far in sales. Both have opened lower than previous iterations. Both have opened lower than what people expected.

Basically. I partially see what he's saying in regards to legs, but he's not considering GT5 bundles (which are likely for Japan). But looking at both, they opened lower than expectations and are the lowest of their series altogether.

Maybe I should qualify my earlier statement... the reason I don't see GT5 and DKCR as "comparable" is because GT5 opened appreciably lower than previous series installments (GT1-4), while actually DKCR opened comparably to later series installments (DKC3/64, and higher than JB).

I can agree that by most people's expectations around here (mine included btw), both opened lower than expected, but I also think in DKCR's case, people's expectations likely weren't rooted in actual knowledge of how the previous DK games actually sold first week.  Looking up that data was enlightening for me, it told me my own expectations were somewhat out of whack, and I suspect that's the case for many around here.

Yes, it is

the 1940 version NSMB wii opened to 160k  according useless news. So, DK is doing even better.

GT5 is already bundled.  It hasn't seemed to help.

Not a themed bundle, obviously.

On that same note, DKC:R is on the highest selling Nintendo home console, yet sold the lowest in the series. Sometimes, things aren't always so clear cut.

Well, I'm not sure GT5 will see a Prologue-esque bundle (ie: given away free a year after release, doubling it's ltd).  That's actually never happened for a GT game before, they've gotten release timed bundles similar to GT5.

Yes. Completely ignore the complete re-release at a much cheaper price. Spec III never sold a single copy!   >_>

Honestly, this thread has turned dumb. It's no longer about this weeks sales at all. It's all about past tracking, which service is right, and which person is reaching farther with this argument. See, I went and contributed above!

Uh... afaik, Spec III wasn't sold standalone?  It was only bundled with PS3s over a several month period for free as a value add incentive?

When you can't win on principle, make it personal?  Whatever works for you.

Win on principal? What was to win? You gave one trackers numbers, I gave another.

You tried making GT5 look bad. I refuted your claims and called you out on what you were. You've gotten away with it for too long. If it gets me a ban for saying exactly what you do... It's honestly worth it.

Like I said, whatever works for you.  I just wanted to talk about sales, not call anyone out or fight some imagined injustice (gotten away with what?) or whatever... guess this conversation's over then.

Meh. I PM'd you so this thread could actually continue talking about sales without me telling you all that I hate about you here and clogging it up for even longer.

Both sides need to calm down just a little bit. GT5 is doing alright, and so is DKCR.  This is from a guy who likes to troll darth about Final Fantasy 13 sales in Japan (as a joke) ....and I can honestly say you guys took it a little to far.

Personally I want to see how far MH can go.

Capcom's expecting 4m by next March.  I think they'll make that and then some, it's going to outsell DQIX...

So PS360 gap for the week is about 80K now. Can the US gap in favour of 360 put 360 ahead by >150K? 360 will need to be ahead of PS3 by 230K for that to happen. Last week it was ahead by 240K in Americas.

which is an amazing accomplishment...

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
