EA confirms Mass Effect 2 PS3 demo

Posted December 13th, 2010 at 13:19 EDT by Mike Harradence

Electronic Arts has confirmed that a demo of the PlayStation 3 version of Mass Effect 2 will be up for grabs via the European PlayStation Store on December 22.

The sci-fi sequel launches on Sony’s flagship console in the region on January 21, with a North American release scheduled for January 18. No word yet on whether the demo will be available for U.S. gamers, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything.

While the original Mass Effect won’t be making the jump to PS3, developer BioWare has cobbled together a special interactive digital comic for the sequel to bring users up to speed with the inaugural space adventure's plot line.

Furthermore, PS3 owners will also be treated to an assortment of DLC straight out of the box, minus Zaeed and Firewalker, which will be available on the Cerberus Network.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I love that you can have the extra characters at an arms length right out of the box. It makes the game more streamlined.

The game is running on the ME 3 engine, so it will be interesting to see the improvements
