Forums - Sales Discussion - GT5 5.5 Million sold and 60 million for GT series

Gran Turismo has sold 5.5 million in it first 13 days averaging 423,000 copies sold per day as of December 6th.

Gran Truismo has sold now 61 million overall and is the highest selling exclusive PS series.

This is very good sales and VG Chartz is way under tracking it.

Those numbers are very unlikely to be sold to customers imo.

Even if you don't believe VGC, NPD had 400.000 until thanksgiving and MediaCreate had 430.000 first week Japan. Let's say these doubled the week after, which is unlikely as US sales included Black Friday and Japanese sales are heavy 1st week, you have 1,6 million in US Japan.

That would leave 3,9 million copies in PAL, which is unlikely.

These are shipped numbers in all likelyhood.

*sigh*
This again?

They are, but there is a fight between those who think the games is a flop and those who're praising its sales like a new record, so every week we have different numbers.

Does someone really think VGC undertracks a game like GT5 by 50%??

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Well, in Japan it's sold out after two weeks. 3 millions in EMEAA after two weeks is very likely.

Well technically shipped does mean sold from the developer/publisher standpoint. It's the retailers problem now if it isn't. Go GT5!

Yes but if it has sold to people "only" 3.5m out of those 5.5 it'll be difficult to reach 10m LTD and you can't speak of a new record for the series like the OP does.
