And Super Paper Mario is in no way or form a RPG   O.o

Take it from someone who's completed the game, yes it is.  In fact, it's more of an RPG than a platformer, the emphasis is squarely on grinding, subsystems and exploration (just like Paper Mario 1-2), only now everything's realtime.

But the gameplay is nowhere near a RPG.

Uh, have you played it?  All it did is take Paper Mario and make it realtime without a separate battle screen, the structure, subsystems and progression are definitely RPG based.  Basically, if Paper Mario's not an RPG, then neither is any action RPG on the list (Fable II/III, Infinite Undiscovery, Folklore, etc).

"All it did is take Paper Mario and make it realtime"

Thus making it a whole other game and genre. The gameplay is much closer to the platformer genre.

And of course I played it. It's my biggest disappointment this gen.

So... if a game's realtime, it's not an RPG?  Mana, Star Ocean, Tales of, Kingdom Hearts, Dark Cloud, Ys, Fable, MegaMan Battle Network... none of them are RPGs?

I'm honestly at a bit of a loss of how anyone can actually play the game and still say "Super Paper Mario is in no way or form a RPG".  Unless maybe they have no idea what an RPG actually is... how exactly would you define an RPG?

Why isn't the first WKC on the list? Mmm...

Anyway, even if it was, I still have to go with MS. Sure, Sony has Demon's Souls, but MS has LO and the Fable games...

Lol... I guess! Sorry, jarrod.

Wii

Last Story and Xenoblade will collectively destroy every other game in the OP!!!

As it is now?

PS3, but If I owned a 360 I'd be saying Microsoft.

It's realtime and in 2D. It's not because you level up that's it's a RPG.

The gameplay is exactly like the platformer genre and that's mostly how I categorize games.

And it's not because it has some RPG elements that it should be considered a RPG.

And games like Kingdom Hearts and Dark Cloud are much more action than RPG.

There can only be one dominating genre.

So RPGs can't be realtime or in 2D (and SPM isn't even in just 2D either)?  Again, can you define "RPG" for the rest of us so I can try to get some idea where you're coming from?

Honestly, the platforming in SPM is so pedestrian and subdued, I wouldn't even call it a platformer, it's really an action RPG with some light platforming (like Zelda II, Faxanadu or Ys III/VI/Origin).  Uncharted or Crackdown has more actual platforming in tem, and I wouldn't call those platformers either.  Hell even some ARPGs (LandStalker, La-Mulana) have a heavier emphasis on actual platforming. I think you just can't get past idea of Mario jumping = platformer...

My Vote goes to Nintendo (because of diversity).

It's spelled Takt of Magic, btw.
