Some publishers of Nintendo DS games like to install their own anti-piracy measures, which while being unable to prevent pirates from physically copying a game, can prevent people from enjoying those pirated copies.

It appears as though the DS version of Michael Jackson: The Experience DS is one of those games. Users who grabbed the title illegally are reporting that there are two game-breaking features that are triggered if a copy is detected as being illegitimate: one is that important on-screen prompts are missing, and the other is that a vuvuzela plays over the top of all of MJ's hits.

You can hear an example in the clip below. Well played, Ubisoft. Well played. Maybe you can even start doing this to PC games, instead of just pissing off your paying customers!

It should also be mentioned that Ubisoft in addition has the "making the game so shitty, nobody wants to play them" anti-piracy measure for all their DS software sooooo...

I remember SE doing this with the DS Version of Chrono Trigger were it would hang forever on the portals through time until there was a cheat code that fixed it. Also Scamco is a confirmed troll, not in a anti piracy way but in a racist fuck you USA kind of way.

It's a pre order bonus that came with the JAPANESE version of Tales of Graces f in Japan, it even comes with a translation guide for people who don't speak english which is most of the people who will play the game. Scamco 9000 Fanbase -1

As for using the tactic on PC games, it has been used and will be again it's gut when people make the cracks that allow pirates to play the games remove them anyway. and it will only be a couple of days until this game will be cracked making it Ubi 0 pirates 20,000,001

anyway wtf @ vuvuzela, though it probably won't last long, the idea is still hilariously awesome.

They should have spent the money they've wasted on this on making a better game.

why are people so looking forward to pirates cracking it? , are you guys having a war against games? (that explains why good games aren't selling/reviewed well)
