After all the talk, all the prophecies of the past few years about this game we now have GT5 first week numbers which were

2.072m sales.

How do you guy's think it did? Does that number meet your expectations?

Me personally i think that is not so good.

Reason i think that is over the last year or so we have heard various arguments from people talking about how it will sell more then GT4 first week easily, some going on to say it will sell 10m+. The hype around it and the length of time it has taken to get out make me think it should of done much better.

GT4 had a first week of 2.523m

But while the gap is 451k between the two GT5 had something that GT4 didn't. It had a holiday period and a black friday. While black friday means nothing in Japan and Europe it still means the sales period would be higher then that of february with people doing their xmas shopping.

So it makes you think if it didn't have a holiday period and a black friday what kind of sales would we have seen? It could of been lower.

It sold lower than what I was expecting(2.5m) but not low enough to sook around the corner and moan how disappointed I am.

personally 2m first week is still BIG I mean how many games does that first week even life time? and if its legs are solid like many ps3 games(uncharted 2 just hit 4m already) it will not matter if its FW week was lower it will achive 10m I mean GT5P opening is sumthing you would expect to end up on 2m LTD range but it did 5m.

Uncharted 2 didn't even open with 1m first week and its well on the way to 5m.

I put 'good'. These are technically the first four days of sales for GT5. I'll let you know if I'm disappointed next week.

Good numbers but Reach did 3M alone in Americas 1st Week and Black Ops on 360 5.4 WW.

Anyway GT5 is a racing game not a shooter.

Lower than expected, but not bad per se.

How come PS3-X360 gap is still at 4 million after GT5 launch? Haven't Vgchartz updated the numbers?

I don't know, it depends on others GT titles openings. PS3 hasn't been as succesful as PS2 was so it's normal GT4 opening was bigger.

Disappointing for me at least, 550k shipment for france made me expect a lot more than this

imo,it did average.
