True I forgot to factor in how fast Dragon Age 2 is releasing. So Holiday 2011 is a definite possibility!

Are you saying that a new console buyer cant play these: Halo3, Halo Reach COD 2,3,4 etc Forza3 Kinect games ME 1,2 Gears 1,2 Are these games not on sale any more? New buyers are buying libraries. The tipping point may be Kinect, it may be a new lower price point. It has little or nothing to do with any new games when we are 5 or 6 years in. |
I'm not saying a new console buyer can't play those games.I just threw in some games, since the OP also had some.
You would think that the only modest bump of hardware sales for the PS3 with GT5 release this week people would finally understand that this late in a generation individual software titles dont do much.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

What comes next year, games wise, is almost irrelevant at this point Price is the main factor plus perhaps the impact of Move or Kinect.

Yeah but the release of a specific popular game, for example Halo Reach, may hurry the purchase of a 360.

Only a few games can do that.... they are all out. |
But,do YOU think 2011 will be 360's peak year?
360s peak year will be the year before it's successor is out.
Plus they haven't moved price on the console in 860 days, $199/299 for 5.5 year old hardware is too much
| kowenicki said: By the way people didnt agree when I said in March that 2010 would be the 360's best year so far... |

Exactly. I've been trying (and mostly failing) to get that into a lot of heads as well.
The only tremendous hardware pushers this far into the console lifecycle are price cuts (significant ones), extremely enticing bundles (but to a lesser degree for sure) and remakes (both the PS3 and 360 has shown how effective this is).
It could very well happen if the 360 gets a price cut next year. Price cuts have stimulated sales significantly before.
This year the 360 will surpass SNES sales. Next year, it may surpass NES. Imagine that, a second place console surpassing 1st place consoles.
