Forums - Gaming - Stupid video game employees

I actually had to help someone buy a Wii game today...yeh a Wii game.

So I went for a trip to Wal-Mart and of course the first section I go to is the PS3 games to look for any good deals and I notice a man talking to one of the Wal-Mart employees (employee was a young guy maybe around 20) and I was kind of eavesdropping on there conversation.

The man had Wii Play with him and he was asking the employee questions about it, and every time he asked a question the employee had to leave and ask one of the other employees about it. One of the questions he kept asking was if the game had a bunch of other mini games in it and the employee kept saying no, so finally I got fed up and I approached the man when the employee left for the 3rd time to get an answer from someone else and I ask the guy if he needs any help with what he was buying and he asked me if the game had a bunch of mini games so I tell him yes it does and he starts to say how thats really all he wanted to know but the employee kept saying no which was odd since theres a bunch of games displayed on the cover and so he went and bought the game.

The worst of it was this guy was around my age, you'd think he'd know a little about the Wii.

So any stupid employee stories that you guys experienced?

Someone once tried to sell me Star Ocean 4, while I was actually asking for Final Fantasy IV.

"It's just as good as FFIV and actually better than most FF games!"

I almost dived over the counter and headbutted him. Repeatedly.

Cool story bro , it happens everytime you go out in the wildz, not everyone a game geek.

no offense, but its not something uncommon, also whats wrong with Wii games?

I was once in a video game shop, when I noticed a customer ask the manager of the store which game comes first, Pokemon Red or Pokemon Blue.  Rather than saying that they're slightly different versions of the same game with minimal differences, they immediately said, very matter-of-factly, "Red comes first, Blue's the sequel," and got back to whatever they were doing.

I've never been so shocked and appalled in all my life.

I wouldn't, and like Pullus said, not everyone's a game geek.

I have a story, it's nothing serious, but I'd thought i'd like to share it since this guy was so misinformed.

It was earlier this year, and I went to Gamestop to buy World at War for $20 because it was part of Gamestop's Gameday sale list. I went up to the employee and asked him if it was really 20 bucks. He ignored my question and started laughing his ass off about how it was ridiculous that I'd think a Call of Duty would stoop that low in price. I had to freaking convince him to at least look it up and check for a price drop. Turned out I was right  -_-

Edit I misread

well, in my country I went to ask last year in early december in a local store if they had if they had new super mario bros wii.... guess what? they didn't know it existed

Hrm... it's been a while, but I remember it was a holiday time, and I was in a WaldenSoftware (now defunct) browsing, when I heard a customer talking to an employee asking which system they should buy. They were pushing hard for her to buy a Saturn, stating that it had the most games, most coming, best, etc. I went over to try to correct the employees to correct them, but just got kicked out of the store. (This was at a time when the writing was on the wall for the Saturn: new releases left were in the single digits, Playstation had more games on the market already, etc.) I do know she left without buying anything from them and went down the mall to the EBGames, but as I was leaving, I don't know what happened from there.
