NTSC FTW

To be honest, in everything but refresh rate, NTSC sucks. PAL is a far superior signal - better and more clear colours...

The lack of 60hz is nothing to get worked up over, IMO... I've been playing PAL games all my life, and they were just fine...

hmm I didnt know this thanks

It's only a difference of 10Hz...can someone please explain it in English for those of us that just don't understand what the fuss is about?

Games not running in fullscreen but instead with ugly black borders, games running on a slower framerate and without progressive scan making the image looks blurry and muddy.

What else you need to know?

Now I'm pissed! Wtf Nintendo?!

The PAL Virtual Console was the main reason I sold my PAL Wii after just a month post launch and imported an NTSC one from Canada instead.

The classic games on VC was one of the main selling points of the Wii for me, and no way I wanted to play these classic games 17% speed reduced and with wrong aspect ratio. Nintendo doesn't care about Europe, never has, probably never will.

Honestly I read all that and logically can see why 50mhz would be inferior but watching the video's I couldn't really tell much of a difference. Maybe because the video's were grainy but I couldn't see much of a difference. While most european TV can handle 60Mhz as you point out their is still a segment of the market that can't .

generally 50hz games have these horrid borders at the top and bottom of the screen and play slower with slower music.

A perfect example is the original Sonic on the Mega Drive/Genesis:

an even worse example is the NES Castlevania:

It usually isn't as noticable when you don't play them side by side.  For example I have Gunstar Heroes on the VC and I didn't notice it was slow until I saw my friend playing it on his 360 and realised that the music was considerably faster.

The difference between the original Megaman's on the NES are pretty big as well.

That's what you brits get for doing everything backwards!!!!!
