Right now 8 of the top 10 biggest first weeks is from this generation and I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the generation that'd be 10/10.

9 out of 20 most sold games of all time is also from this gen, 8 of the top 20 most sold games in America are from this gen, 11 of the top 20 games in Japan are from this gen, 11 of the top 20 games in EMEAA are from this gen. 

The fastest selling games to 20 million are all from this gen, 11 of the 12 fastest selling games to 15 million are from this gen, 16 of the top 19 fastest selling games to 10 million are from this gen etc.

So is it just this gen that's so huge or will the next generation be bigger? Will every generation constantly be outdoing the next? will we one day see a single game on one platform sell over 10 million first week?

Just something I've been pondering about lately.

Well if we include Japanese and DD PC sales, Black Ops probably broke 10 million.  I can't really see this gen taking all the top spots though.  That would mean we'd need 7 more 4 million launches.

all consoles this gen in my opinion will be close if not reach or pass 100m sold (not debatable)

next gen the big 3 have there work cut out for them. i think Sony has all the meat, MS is being Secretive about new ip's that there making only for next gen, and Nintendo has more work cut out fort them next gen then anyone else.

i think if everybody (meanning the big 3) have perfect laugnches and don't screw things up this gamers war will become to hard to predict next gen. over all the race will be so close it will be a virtual tie if nobody screws it up. (my story hasn't changed and nor will it)

I think the game industry is the part of the entertainment industry that is still in puberty (I just mean growing fast) as opposed to the stable books, movies and music industries. So every gen will be larger than the previous till we get to the gen that it stabilizes and the game industry is neither growing nor shrinking.

With Japan launch PS3 version of Black ops should pass Halo 3. Definitely gaming indrusty has grown a lot this gen. Too bad that developing costs have risen even more.

And this generation is the one with most games with 15 million or more LT sales.

9/10 are Halo, CoD or GTA. Holy crap.
