Forums - Sales - Americas up!

I thought Kinect was selling a lot of hardware. Remember given the adjustments to the PS3, the PS3 was outselling the 360 by quite a reasonable margin not a few weeks back.

Anyway I still wonder how accurate the sales are for Xbox 360. Im not talking about whether it is higher or lower than stated, im talking about how if theres a change in buying patterns given a different audience then the ratios may be out which could yield a different result to the actual result.

I guess like most situations, the only sufficient response is to wait. lol  This is too little time to tell much anyway.

Wii is just warming up... Next few weeks are going to be huge... GT5 could boost ps3 a little, but meh... 360 has more changes to end close to the wii... But, obviously Ds will be number 1 again...

PS3 holds well!!!

Looks like the red Wii helped nintendo a lot...but will we see a low rise for it next week like we saw in EU post red wii release....

360 has done extremely well

Now time to wait and see what effect GT5 has!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

As a "market" the HD platforms are almost exactly where they were last year in Oct-Mid November. Should change after Black Friday, but that already puts some damper on how high they can be this quarter for the publishers.

Why isnt dance central selling more?  It deserves to be tied with Kinect sports.

Pah extremely annoying posting from a phone - because you can't :(,

Great sales for all consoles, unsurprising bump for 360, hopefully the momentum will last up to Christmas!

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

dance central isnt selling more imo because the "casual" audience that companies seem to want to go for these days havent yet fully got Kinect yet.

I work at an electronics store. In australia granted but I doubt my scenario is many different to those out there.

I have asked many if they are going to get Kinect and many seem to get excited and announce they are getting it for christmas. Kinect better have enough stock in Aus because imo its gonna be another Wii scenario here... annoying...

How can Wii go up by almost 50% with no major release? Isn't Nintendo bount by the laws of physics or something?

red wii and the usual holiday boost? What's wrong with wii going up?

You should change that comparison in the bottom of your sig, PS2 severely undertracked on VGChartz, it's more like 146 million(so a difference of over 10 million).

@tetres: I know, but still it amazes my how they pull it off to sell so well every holiday, over and over again.

Then why hasn't Vgchartz corrected it, I will get to it soon.

PS2 is probably selling well in the regions that VGChartz is having difficulty to track, the same regions that caused the rather large PS3 adjustment not to long ago. That or they're to busy with the ''current generation'', while PS2 is still selling well, more than PSP for example.

VGChartz posted the shipment numbers here themselves: http://www.vgchartz.com/article/82596/big-three-shipment-update-through-september-2010/

PS2 was already at 147.6m shipped by the end of september, over 12 million ahead of the DS at 135.58m. And stores are not going to stock 12 million units of a 10 year old console....

But Sony will probably release some kind of press notice when it gets to 150m, who knows could even happen by the end of the year.

I still expect DS to cnarrow the gap later this year and PS2 is at like 150M and DS 144.3M, then the gap will carry on to narrow.

Although we're going a bit offtopic here, the question is how long will Nintendo keep producing the DS? You have to remember, 3DS launches in a few months.

OT:

Kinect Adventures week 1 Americas: 550,021

Kinect Adventures week 2 Americas: 250,553

That's over a 50% drop. Something is telling me MIcrosoft won't be making their target of 5 million by the end of the year...

And PS2 was released in 2006 yet you were discussing about PS2 sale numbers in 2010. Nintendo supported GBA for a few years after DS was released in 2004 (even with a new model, GBA Micro). It would be hard to imagine they just stop the production for DS right after 3DS is released.

OP:

360 holds well but probbaly helped by Black Ops release.

Black Friday doesn't come soon enough.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
