Forums - Gaming - CoD:BO plays itself. You're actually just watching it being played!!

This is stupid, the game is clearly set at the lowest difficulty setting, if you try that at hardened or veteran you won't last ten seconds.

Honestly, who buys CoD for the single player anyway?

It's all about the full package.

Unless you're one of those people that NEVER touched any single player in CoD games (like my friend)...

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

i was very disappointed and will be trading soon once i get a few more hours out of Zombies and getting ACB and just wait for LBP2 and the new year of grand titles.

I said to myself i would never buy an Call of Duty after Modern Warfail 2 but after liking WAW so much (since i was an single player guy, WAW was basically my first online experience) so i get COD BO with excitement and it was shite, full of bugs and the single player was messy. I didn't mine the single player for WAW sure the last russian mission were just over the top but it had some cool missions like the sniper one.

But really the campaign was as close to an rail shooter without being on rails. i felt like there was someone behind me going RUN RUN RUN and dont stop until 10 hours.

That one mission sneaking around on the docks was on rails as well. follow him or else game over.  I tried going other ways, mixing it up but after the 10th time cutting that guys neck i was just sick of it.

Btw they used up all there space on set pieces mid way though the campaign by the last mission its was just crap.

But i would say that the one good mission was when you are swimming in the water in Vietnam. it was alright but ehh.

i laughed at the last ship when i was in the helicopter not moving and shooter, because i was so used to being on rails that i didn't know i could be move the helicopter.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

This is a very expensive movie!

lol at everyone who bought this shxt.

I believe Blizzard once declared that something like 40% of Starcraft players only played the single-player mode.  SP is the dominant, if not sole, means of playing a game for many, many people.

That's the first level though, it doesn't really mean anything :l

If someone puts up videos of them doing that throughout the whole game, then I'll be convinced.

Most of the time I win multiplayer matches without firing a bullet.

Its entirely cinematic!

Man... It's just one mission, but still, I can't believe how the gameplay in this game's single player campaign is weak. I already posted my comments about it on Black Ops' review page here on VGChartz. It's just sad. I had such high expectations for this campaign since I really loved World at War's and it was made by Treyarch too.

Oh well. I wonder who's developing the next CoD game? Sadly, IW are never going to do the sequel to MW2...

Comments from a Treyarch employee that worked on CoD:WaW about that game can be found here: http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/e6xqm/how_scripted_is_the_action_in_cod_black_ops_you/c15ta4z

He posted these comments after seeing this video I posted.

Thanks for the link.

Something I find funny: "[...] Given limited resources, money, and developer time, the quickest "fix" to any given problem/bug was through level design and scripting. That's why the AI is such utter horseshit and everything is on rails: it's not worth it to "do it right."

That's bullshit. Infinity Ward at least had a good level designer for MW2! They managed to do a CoD game where you had multiple ways to do certain levels at least. Black Ops is just following corridors 80% of the time with a minimal amount of diversity in most levels.

Modern Warfare 2 might of had good level design, but the story was one of the greates pileup trainwrecks I have run into a LONG time.  It is abysmal garbage how the game went.  You MAYBE buy the invade America premise, maybe.  But based on the whole No Russian level, where you could go through most of it without firing a shot (wow, I was lucking that I didn't need to gun down civilians), that was nonsense.  And then the plot twist near the end was beyond inane.  If this were a movie, it would be under 20 on Rotten Tomatoes.

As far as this thread in general goes, all I can say is it was the first level, and a scripted set up for the rest of the game.  It is like the No Russians level actually.  But, more importantly, it begs the question exactly HOW a game is supposed to work if you have team mates.  Do you do as I heard Medal of Honor works, where it is SO scripted the single player your teammates stand around and wait for you to do things and shoot somewhere.  If you don't act, nothing happens.  Or is it such that you can go through without firing off much of a shot, because they act?

And this is why I generally don't play new FPS games, not only is there no thought required, you don't even have to shoot or drive now it seems... The way things are headed with RPG's, Strategy and Shooters, I can't really see myself gaming at all in a few years. Might as well watch a (bad) action movie.

PS: I hated World ar War with a passion and found it piss poor on gameplay so this does not really surprise me.

Why do people like to rip on COD:BO and WaW so much?
