Forums - Nintendo - Wii is games

Oh yeah, I play my Wii a lot more than the 360.  Mostly because the only titles I care about on 360 are WRPGs and I simply don't have time to play them.

Wii games are generally easier to get in/out.  Also being able to play one handed (wiimote only) in games like Endless Ocean, adventure games, etc., is a blessing as sometimes the only time I have to play is while I'm eating or resting with a tea/beer or doing work around the house.

I too have far too many Wii games, and a lot more on my to get list.  Dont' even have time to play what I have.

I'm satisfied because I've been playing it for hours, however I'm a bit dissapointed about what it was supposed to do, revolutionize gaming. At the beginning a lot of games had motion controls, but didn't work very well and had a negative impact among core gamers who wanted just to push buttons. Now it's like the gamecube but with Wii controls.

Nintendo is also to blame, most of their motion control games are Sport/Fitness, but where are the core games with good motion controls? Yeah, I enjoyed Mario Galaxy, NSMB, and overall all Nintendo stuff, but it wasn't the gaming revolution it promised

I can see your point.  However, I think the biggest opportunity for the Wiimote/nunchuck controls is for the FPS genre.  I just got Black Ops and I didn't play MW Reflex.  However, I did play the crap out of WaW  and I believe those controls were pretty solid.  I could aim and shoot with pretty damn good accuracy.  I have been playing Goldeneye and the controls aren't as smooth as WaW for me but I think I can twink them in future.  Playing a FPS with dual analog is not my style anymore.  Sure the keyboard and mouse will always be supreme for FPS but wiimote/nunchuck if used right offer pretty damn good controls for FPS.  Of course there are other genres that could benefit from the controls also.  The Wiimotion plus has made the controller more accurate also.  Perhaps most companies didn't utilize the controls as well as they could have.  There should be more games that take advantage of Wiimotion plus for one.

precisely, Motion plus has made it more precisely, but in how many games has Nintendo used it successfully? Only Sports Resort comes to my mind. They wasted a lot of time imo, and now the competition has their own motion controls to satisfy their core gamers.

Yes I really are. In fact,my Wii games have more replay value than any other console I owned. There are some game which will stay classics like Super Mario Bros. or Ocarina of Time will. I played my Wii more often than any other console, including PS3, because if you are not into shooters, PS3 and Xbox are not really good console for you. I'm a platformer man, a true one, and I enjoy so much my games!

Was the bolded ironic? Because it sounds like a very trite meme from, say, 2006. Before the respective lineups were properly fleshed.

Still there are not so many games I would look for in 2010 for both Xbox and PS3 apart from Mass Effect (even...), God of War III, Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5... maybe Red Dead Redemption. On Xbox it's always the same big games... Halo, Call of Duty... and what's the point of buying a console that offers the same thing as the others regarding multiplat games?

Well, the fact that you don't find much of interest on those two consoles is a very different concept from saying that if anyone is not a shooter fan, then they're not good choices.

Also, just off the top of your head you could name quite a number of big games, exclusively for 2010.  A different gamer might have instead named '10 sport games, SF4 in its latest incarnation, western RPGs such as Fable or Fallout 3, strategy games such as RUSE...

Don't look like slim pickings to me.

I prefer Wii among other current-gen consoles, but still I'm not satisfied, there are too many lacks in its library....but still I have to play Goldeneye007 and DKCR, this season, and I hope to play Zelda and Last Story next year.

Mahaha, you guys aren't getting the "collect dust" thingy at all! It collecting dust means it isn't put away into some storage where it wouldn't collect any dust at all! That's a good thing! If it where the other way around then it would be bad.

And the Wii is for kids. I challenge you to find a Wii gamer that isn't someone's kid.

I personally feel that the Wii has more than enough games to keep me satisfied. Between the retail games plus all the Virtual Console and WiiWare games, I have difficulty finding the time and the money in order to enjoy all the games I'm interested in.

If you want platformers go and look up some PSN/XBLA games.

Many of them are on par with Wii platformers (aside from the Mario games):

Limbo, Braid, Shadow Complex, Splosion Man, The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, N plus, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Trine

to name only a few.

People who say Wii has no games simply mean it has no "blockbusters." These are the types of people who gage the quality of a game by its hype, and since Wii games generally don't get the hype that the major budget HD games do, that means Wii has no games. Most people here seem to be smart enough not to fall for that fallacy, but other sites I've been to like Gametrailers and Gamepro, those arguments are sadly still endless shouted as if they are truth.

But if NSMB, Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, RE4, Zelda TP, Little King's Story, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Monster Hunter Tri, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Sports, Resort, Sin and Punishment, Kirby, Sonic Colors, Goldeneye, Donkey Kong Country, Epic Mickey, Zack and Wiki, World of Goo, Dr. Mario Online, and many others means "no games", then I am lovin the no games.

sure the wii is games and even if move or kinect were more precise or better implemented from now on, I wount be able to get the games I love on them. no matter how good those peripherals are I cant get mario, zelda, metroid, mario kart, smash, etc on them so I´ll remain faithfull. ( though I do enjoy ps3 as well:) )
