Its basically like Square said to themselves "You know what would be great? A Final Fantasy sports game. Hmm nobody will go for that, but if we put Mario and friends on the cover and in the game it will sell shit loads and increase brand awareness for FF".

Very disappointing indeed, I would have thought that Square-Enix would have attempted to revive or include a practical character. Slime is not appropriate. I hoped for at least Cloud or Geno but Square-Enix believed in other things. Perhaps the best of their own produce in the game is Black Mage.

Meh, Slime should be popular and the character is pretty versatile.  It's the only one besides Chocobo to ever get it's own game too.
