I REALLY REALLY do not understand why people assume that GT5 will do so MUCH for a console, I disagree with the OP as it is likely to be closely tied or PS3 JUST breaking the lead but I don't think GT5 will be as a major factor as everyone seem to make it out to be, more of a move/better value bundles this year, GT5 will no doubt push software but I really doubt that hardware will be affected more than the effect that Halo Reach had, using the same excuse - "Everyone who liked Halo, already has a 360" - "Everyone who liked the GT series, already has a PS3"

Move sold many many consoles , imo kinect will do the same for MS.

Btw do not forget thah Kinect is an entirely fresh technology and people are hungry about this.

How much did Halo Reach boost the 360? About as much as you will see GT5 boost PS3.

and the push by halo mostly only lasts first few weeks

 

you will witness what GT5 does for PS3 pretty soon

I don't think GT5 will do that much more for the PS3 as compared to what Reach did for the 360. it's going to be impossible to judge what it's effect really is since it is releasing during one of the best sales weeks of the year. Most of those sales will be due more to the holiday season than it will be GT5.

I agree it will hard to tell how much Gt5 will have on PS3 hardware sales since it release around Black Friday with a lot of deals on consoles. I still believe X360 may pull ahead little since Kinect is seen as something new. I still wouldn't count Wii out though which may have an impact on Kinect sales.

It's going to move consoles like Halo 3 (not Reach) did.

The Kinect will be bigger than Move, hell it already is (in USA). But i still think that by 2012, PS3 will be ahead worldwide, still way behind in the states though, the gap might even increase.

Just wait for Sonys pricedrop in the next year and you will see what i'm talking about.

I don't know about the bogus shipped numbers, but in actual sales the 360 will definitely be ahead this holiday season and into 2011.
