I noticed that in the zombie mode there's only one map. Are there unlockable maps or are we gonna get them as DLC??

This might be the answer.

Thanks!

Oh man.... it's gonna take me a while to unlock them :l

Good to see.   Went with Goldeneye over this for the local multi-player (plus online) and the fact I can play it with my daughter and girlfriend's son and not worry about M content.

Still if my son who's off in college gets this, I'll get a copy (and prob the headset) too just to do co-op zombie killing with him and a friend.

How on earth do you play local multiplayer on ds? Or are you talking about playing on 2 or more consoles? That is the same as online (you propably connect with wifi).

I am pretty sure that local multiplayer on MW2 was a non factor. Online is what sells the shooters.

wat

Local multiplayer is multiplayer played locally. Online is over the internet. The DS connects wirelessly to other DS', locally.

But you still need at least 2 consoles for that. I guess this game has local multiplayer too, just get couple of consoles and play multiplayer locally... does it matter if you connect through internet instead of wifi? ;)

And I thought ds connects through internet but you learn something new every day. :D

(Yes, I don't know how wii online works. I own only one game that has online multiplayer (brawl) and haven't tried that)

I suppose that now we will see wii version beating at least the ps3 version.

You mean reviews or sales? Actually don't bother, not gonna happen either way.

Sales. I've seen a lot of reasons why a wii game does not sell as well as the hd-versions. Now those usual reasons don't apply (gimped,old/lame port,no marketing, not a big ip and whatever), so the game will sell more than those hd-versions.

The game is gimped. Check the red mark in the review.

Local multiplayer? Do people really care about that if you can play the game online? :o

Yes, yes they do.

Sources:

[2]The top selling console games of all time

[3]The top selling console FPS' of all time

1) So local multiplayer is the reason those titles sold? Like wii fit? Nintendogs?  NSMB? Brain age? Mario kart ds?

2) Previously mentioned games and pokemon?

3) Do you really think that MW2 sold that much because of local multiplayer? Get real.

No, it's a correlation. Local multiplayer is extremely common among the top selling games of all time, and of this generation. It's especially true of the Wii which is specifically intended to be a multiplayer console. 8/10 of the top ten games this generation have local multiplayer 3/10 had online. 7/10 of the top selling Wii games were local multiplayer games, the other three still have local multiplayer elements. 8/10 of the top selling 360 games and 4/10 on PS3.

Of the top console games of all time 17/30 have had local multiplayer. 4/30 had online multiplayer.

And I'm not sure if you intended it but yes, NSMB(on DS and Wii), Mario Kart DS and Pokémon are really big local multiplayer games.

I did not say that MW2 sold that much due to local multiplayer, however I am sure it is an element. Hardcore gamers underestimate the relevance of local multiplayer, every big selling console FPS has had it as a central feature since Goldeneye popularized console FPS'.

But this isn't even just a matter of not having local multiplayer, the HD versions also have local online. You know, the feature that's really popular on the 23 million selling Mario Kart Wii and the near 10 million selling SSBB.

In a straight up choice between Black Ops on the HD consoles or on Wii you've got the following factors:

HD: Local Multiplayer, Local Online Multiplayer, better graphics and chances are more of your friends will have this version (particularly the 360).

Wii: Pointer controls.

..yeah.

Local wi-fi, yeah.

Mario Kart DS can do 4 players online, and 8 players local.  You need 8 DS owners in the same room, but only one copy of the game.  You can do a world tour of all 32 tracks in the game.  I have done this several times, and it is THE BOMB.  It is way more fun than 4 player online.

Even though I personally don't like kart racers, it might be fun if 8 of my friends had a ds. Most of them only play farmville or stuff like that. You really have 7 friends with a ds? :O

I have like 12 friends with a DS. We have DS lan parties and play meteos/mario kart/metroid/pokemon and have three power strips so everyone can plug their DSes in.

When I used to live in L.A. I had a ton of friends with DS's.  We had DS parties, and played 10 player Tetris DS, and after a few people left we'd play 8 player Jam With the Band and 8 player Mario Kart DS, then after a few more left we'd play 6 player Star Fox Command, and then after a few more left we'd cool off with some 4 player Animal Crossing.  Animal Crossing required that all 4 players had their own game, so they could have their own town and character and all that, but the rest of those games only require one copy of the game.  There were web sites for DS owners to meet each other and meet up for these kinds of parties too.  And a few times I actually bumped into groups of strangers playing DS who let me join in.  It was all the rage until Wii Sports came out and took over the world.

In general, I think local multiplayer is more popular than online multiplayer because you can turn the games into drinking games, and because it gets non-owners addicted to the games, so they have to go buy them and show all their friends.  For online multiplayer everybody already owns it, so it can't spread in the same way.

Sorry to hear about your Farmville friends.  That game snatched up both my sisters and even my mom.

I dont know why this game in the UK launched on the same day of the other versions (09/11/2010) and on some other countries in Europe (like mine: Portugal) the game was delayed about 2 weeks. What the hell is activision thinking? Is because of Goldeneye?

About the game itself it looks very good in graphics and gameplay.

Check out some videos that i found on youtube...

Video comparison of Wii version VS HD version:

Video online gameplay in HD video quality:

THIS GAME LOOKS AWESOME!!! Only hope that it plays even better! :P

Just a quick thought, the game in online mode looks that it has better graphics that the single player campaign... anyone with the game can clarify that for me?

The Wii version is already not gonna get much if any advertising....it doesn't help if the official Nintendo review talks about GoldenEye the entire time
