Forums - Gaming - Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage GT Review Ouch .....

From Joystiq:

The game's weakness lies not in conception, but in execution. Here's how every level works, every time:

  1. Ken cracks his knuckles and says something that a professional wrestler might say.
  2. You take control and turn a corner or two.
  3. If you've made it to level two, you notice a building and think to yourself, "Have I been here before?"
  4. You mash your way through dozens of punks.
  5. Occasionally, you get to fight a really tall or a really fat guy who, in an interesting change of pace, actually seems genuinely interested in fighting back.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and, possibly, 5.
  7. You find the boss and begin to fight him. In a wholly frustrating role reversal, the boss becomes the chip and you become the beans.
  8. The boss then hands you your nethers anywhere between 2 and 1,124 times. To say that the boss battles are cheap is an insult to dollar stores the world over.
  9. At the end of the lengthy boss fight, you forget which button B is and fail a quick time action that has nothing to do with the skills you used to defeat the boss.
  10. You resist the urge to chuck your controller across the room.
  11. You finally defeat the boss.
  12. As a reward, you're treated to a cut scene that may or may not make your eyes go crossed.

That's pretty much it. For 20 hours.

Score: 2/5

Kenshiro has been defeated...

-----------------------

Haha, I experienced steps 9 & 10 in the demo. When the boss' health was low, you had to do three sets of these quick time events. I failed the first one, because I didn't know that was going to happen. I got frustrated since I had to continue enduring the clunkiness and boredom of the combat, but I eventually defeated him. Then, I deleted the demo. The boss fight was annoying, and so were the controls. I didn't bother to play the other level.

But VIking was a Sega game. Hence, low quality and poor frame rate is pretty much expected.

Sega only published it. They didn't make it. Viking was made by Brits.

Untrue! Rock Lee is one of my favorite characters in Naruto. He needs more showtime.

Sega owns the studio that made it and I consider any IP Sega owns a Sega game.

Regardless, any game with a Sega logo is like a warning to me. Box contains potentially bad game.

it's essentially a Dynasty Warriors game, what did you expect? They're some of the most mind-numbingly repetitive and mediocre games EVER

Metacritic scores are in line with other Dynasty Warrior titles.

360 - 55 based on 11 Critics
PS3 - 57 based on 10 Critics

to DW fans....

does this game feel like a DW?

do you have range problem with hits (in the vid they seemed to miss half the hits, did they suck or is it generally true?... no weapons could certainly do that)?

do the characters feel imaired to move?

and oh there's a demo? my 360 just came back from MS so it'll DL it :p

(and DW is one of the greatest game ever, heck half my dorm floor was waiting in line to play it when the PS2 first released...DW multiplayer is even more awsome)

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

idk o think the demo is pretty horrible its to clunky.
