and how do games suck

when you put out multiple games with few advancements

making good games need time, making multiple good games need even more time so it just can't be done in a small time

Well lets look at Sonic. The games just started becoming unplayable.

However, I guess some forumlas just get old and become unappealing because of competition. Need for Speed and Tomb Raider are examples of that but still are very popular franchise.

CoD has a great formula and the competition is lacking what people love about CoD.

They do put time into CoD games. You gotta remember they have like two studios working on them. I assume Infinity Ward is working on the 2011 release. Treyarch will probably do the 2012 release.

need for speed and tomb raider are nowhere near what they were

and they are nowhere near standout or even acclimed franchises

they keep coming and people don't even know about them

COD is a great formula but the same thing again and again even if there is no competition dies after sometime

yeah two studios are great but the qualities of both and path of both of them are different

its not like they have a 2 people of the same kind

also however good the frachises is,every year releases is gonna hurt the brand

the hardcores present in the industry are very low

most of the people who buy it are casuals and they follow hype and popularity

as the products isn't cool and next best thing or popular the casuals will not buy it

and that will take a chunk of sales

I'm tired of hearing about "franchise fatigue".

If they keep putting out good games people will keep buying them.

I can't think of one franchise that dried up because they put out too many. It usually happens because the games suck.

Guitar Hero? Rock Band? The whole musical genre (not including dance games)? (I should read people's responses...)

Looks what you people started!!!!

Now we will be flooded with the mediocore franchise known as COD.........Why dont ya Fuck Off Activision!!

And people wouldn't listen to me when I said CoD sucked at the fourth game.

Three CoD games in one year is overkill for me.. I had a hard time deciding on whether I was going to pick up Black Ops or not, after the mess MW2 was.

Kudos to Treyarch for improving the multiplayer aspect, and with that, I reward you a sale from me :)

One springs to mind immediately, Guitar Hero! How many releases did that get in 2009? And what are the main releases in the series selling now? Thats definitely a case of franchise fatigue.

And for people who are wishing for Call of Duty's demise, they have probably been given hope.

I think they need to do more:

Call of Duty Kart racing

Call of Duty at Winter Olympics

Call of Duty party

Call of Duty RPG

and then they can also expand into collectible card games or something :D

Don't forget RTS.

Why would that be a bad thing? Think Company of Heroes, but just branded as a CoD game... If they got a good developer it would still be a good game!!!!!

I really don't see what the problem with lots of CoD games is. Just because they are called CoD, doesn't mean that they are the same game. Personally, I will happily play more than one shooter a year (well more like 5...), and why does it matter if they are all called CoD. They are going to be from different studios and so going to be a different take on the style

Or Call Of Duty: Petz

Call Of Duty 2K11 Sports Package

Call Of Duty: Tetris

Call Of Duty: Liberty City

If COD was a RTS I would play it.

The thing about Guitar Hero. I don't think putting out a ton of games killed it. I think people just got tired of playing with those plastic guitars.

People aren't gonna get tired of FPS games.

I didn't listen because I came to that conclusion myself. I'm kinda happy that the most probable outcome for CoD as a franchise is one of sinking. But then I remember Tony Hawk and how they ruined that for me and feel sorry for all the CoD fans.
