It's done it, DQ IX has become the best selling Dragon Quest game.  By this time next week, it will have sold 5m and will be another reason to celebrate.  DQ IX is still selling like hot cakes here in the U.K as well.  In the end how much do you think DQ IX will sell?

Hopefully, over a mil in the EU, but that is asking a lot imo. the game is still at full retail price, but i think that it should outsell DQ8 in the EU, maybe not NA, but still i would be extremely happy for 1mil in the EU. excellent news for Square, who potentially could have another breakthrough RPG in the west. but these numbers are excellent anyway.

Hold the champagne guys, it'll be at least another year before DQ9 comes close to 6 million copies. As far as I can see, it's not going to shift too many more copies in Japan, and American numbers won't go higher than about 300K, meaning that EMEAA will have to give us 1.4mil before we can start celebrating. And we still don't know what kind of effect the 3DS will have, or how soon DQ10 will come.

We'll have to wait and see how well it does this holiday. It definitely has the potential to reach 6 mil. Hopefully sales in NA really pick up over the next 2 months.

I'm surprised to actually see TV-ads for this game.. so it should do well this holiday.. Great timing from Nintendo..

Yeah, Nintendo is doing a great job at marketing it here.

It's kinda sad that one of the worst entries in the series is getting the title, but atleast i'm happy that a J-rpg is selling well over here.

Others should learn from it.

DQ9 is brilliant, and it deserves every sale that it gets ^-^

Nice to see a big franchise actually growing. And with this becoming the best selling DQ ever, it makes me wonder how well DQX would do if it was on a handheld.

Also. Despite all the advertising... It didn't really do that well in the West did it? Would have expected more. Japan sales for it are amazing though.

In Japan, that is. I thought it sold more than this in the West, to be honest...

Still, it deserves every bit of it.

why are American so sales crap compared to Europe? i can't name many JRPG's that have sold better in europe.
