Forums - Microsoft - Gamespot : Kinect has problems recognizing dark-skinned users

Kinnect was originally developted by the Nazis. The technology was conceived as possible in Luisinana before the US Civil War, but kept in secret. Don't ask me how, but the nazis knew about this and did a good thing making it work but too late, by the end of 1944 so they couldn't start mass production.

A young south african dutch descendent Microsoft employee remembered this story, did some research and got a promotion out of it.

Kinnect arrives now to please the white anglo saxon masses. Hooray.

How did it recognize Oprah then? Or is she one of those "lighter skinned black African Americans"?

What are you talking about? Oprah was never shown playing Kincet (and she didn't claim that she did).

wow so ur tellin me that kinect wont recognise me? damn..... i wasnt plannin on gettin it anyways.........

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

I thought these were just bullshit rumors after like a week of them initially coming to surface.

If they are indeed true... Then just lol.

Its only  had problems with facial recognition even though it recognized the third dark skinned employee. Once again this is at launch. Lets wait for a couple software updates and it will run smoother. It has no problems recognizing body movements for any skin color.

I believe this is why the manual has a "FAQ" section. I am also sure it will be difficult to have the system be setup with the correct lighting for both colour and non coloured people for facial recognition but then that was identified in the kinect developers briefings they suggested that Kinect recognised you by using a combination of things using the difficulty to recognise twins as an example.

I think I will wait for some moles to inspect this mountain before I declare it a problem.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

From what i can see its not a major problem, because it dosent prevent darker skinned people (such as myself) from playing games, but it means that they will have difficulty accessing all the features in comparasion to a lighter skinned person.

however i expect the problem can be fixed with better foreground lighting like the article says, but the problem is that that this is just another blow in a list of things, like no baggy clothes or sitting down etc.

It's time for "Operation: White Shadow" to go into effect, someone call Veridian...

no offense guys

This pic is simply hilarious! On topic I hope Kinect doesn't have problems recognizing me that would suck. Gonna go try it out at my Aunt's house today.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I'm not sure if I buy this - but even if it turns out to be true, it has to be understood that it isn't some o'migod MS natzi racist thing but the unfortunate reality of physics, lighting and skin tone.

Also, even if it is a bit of an issue it should be possible to solve with more work on the software and specific lighting advice.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
