5/10
Good: big Jedi brawl
Bad: everything else

7.8 for me, that is to say I liked it a little less that the first one.
Memorable to me were the seismic charges and their detonation sound (among other stuff). Awesome :).

2/10
Anakin is an annoying and arogant little brat
Yoda is unable to defeat that weakling sith that is wiped off the set quickly in Episode 3

This movie HAD to have a compelling love story.....and it didn't which hurts many many things not only in this movie BUT in EPISODE 3 as well! They had to make the audience feel like it was worth it for these characters to literally "live a lie"....they didn't do this. No-one in the audience was rooting for anakin & padme to be together like say they rooted for rose & jack to be together (Titanic people for those who don't know). |
My God I was thinking of MGS4
Damn you Kojima!
8/10
I enjoyed that one a lot more... and freken spinning yoda ftw, that's worth 4 points alone.

Worst of the SW movies. Many people claim that Empire Strikes Back is one of the best movies. Maybe it is, but in so doing this movie. Is the Counterpart to the Yin. This Yang SUCKS.
It's not even the acting that's bad. Heck I could live with the acting. It's the Story. I can't believe how bad the story was.
In the original Trilogy Luke was us. Luke was our home life. Normal. Arguing with parents check, want something more in life check, being naive check. Luke then get's thrust into an adventure. Anakin however wasn't us. He was a slave that was some kind of miracle prodigy. ok they want Anakin to be awesome. But they didn't build him up to it. We didn't evolve with Anakin as we did with Luke.
So Anakin comes into AoC as some whiny teenage brat with super powers. Obi-won is shoved into the place of both a father figure(again a super hero) and best friend(who is a super hero). Did I mention Anakin is a superhero? This isn't some Anime where the feminine teen who lives some what ish normal ish life get's thrown into an adventure. No we start up right from the first scenes that something BIG is happening. ESB didn't dot hat.
Then Anakin sees the princess....
wait she lost her royal title. Royalty is ELECTED????? WTF? Yes I knew this and wondered about the same bizzaar crap in the first movie, but in the second movie. it's nature really showed. Royalty is a blood line. George Fucas wanted us to feel comfortable with Naboo. So he gave it an elected government like America and most of the world. And that's where most of the problems with that thought come from...
and falls in love instantly.... nope. Sorry that's not love that's hormones. Our Super Hero's go off to find the assassin which takes them on a journey across many planets. With a relatively incompetent Jedi order. Boba Fett dies(wait that's his dad), R2 flies...
No that's enough... This movie was fanfic. Everything about it was written as Fanfic. The most important element about the movie. The Romance which is suppose to finally turn our Hero into one of the most evil bad asses for generations was aweful. The Romance was written by some kind of dreaming 14 year old boy.
What the movie should have been? Anakin growing up and Palpatine slowing working his way into the mind. But the movie just set's everything on the wrong foot. This movie conveyed every important element that needed to be establish wrong. I can't even form a coherent writing as to how bad this movie was and why.... it sucked.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Do I need to go on? The Phantom Menace was a giant slap in the face because it took a highly revered series and shit all over it and that's why I probably have that knee jerk OMG IT'S AWFUL!! reaction and I probably forget about this one because Phantom Menace made me almost not care about the prequels and forget how bad Attack of the Clones actually is. So again: 0/10 |
I suppose this is fair justification.
Except that Samuel L. Jackson never does an awful job in any role. He's Samuel L. Jackson.

Whichever you prefer.
I prefer the remastered versions, to be honest. I'm not blinded by nostalgia to the point of thinking that improved special effects are a bad thing, though I have encountered people holding that opinion.

It's one thing when special effects are improved, like with the approach to the Death Star trench. But do you actually prefer the special edition of the Mos Eisley cantina scene, for instance?
