Forums - Nintendo - Goldeneye IGN Review - And the Verdict is....

I'll wait more reviews and opinions from other people, but I'm glad it has stealth levels. I may pick it up because of that, instead of Black Ops which is more action oriented and has little stealth..... or am I wrong with that? (I just played it a few times :/ )

Gameinformer is a waste of the paper it's printed on.

I would trust IGN more than GI.  I hate GI and all it stands for.  Like many have said GI disses the Wii all the time and barely gives it any coverage (usually bad coverage).  GI is a poor excuse of a magazine and if they didn't get subscriptions when buying things at Gamestop they would cease to exist.  I was one of those suckers that got some cheap subscription for a year a long time ago.  After I saw how horribly they covered Nintendo, I never wanted to read another magazine of theirs again.  GI deserves to disappear forever.

Awesome!  I'm glad that this game received a good score.  I didn't play the original but I plan on buying this game this week.

the original was great. check out a pawn shop and you may find it and a N64.

wasn't expected but its a must buy. hoping blood stone for PS3 and 360 will come out just as good if not better.

IGN did a far better job of reviewing Goldeneye than Game Informer did. GI's review just seemed fragmented, like the guy was just throwing out as many negatives as he could think of with no regard to structure or fluidity. While I wouldn't peg IGN's review as absolute truth (they are quite infamous for jumping on bandwagons, after all), it was much better structured and more informative, and overall gave a clearer idea of what the game is like.

Hopefully, GameFly gets my copy of Metroid: Other M soon so I can get this game ASAP. Or Kirby's Epic Yarn. That'd be a good consolation.

I bought the game this morning, its fun. I agree with IGN that its the best on the Wii, but think it should be rated about 8.5 out of ten. I haven't played it that much yet. I played a quick round on the industrial map, and the Archives. One complaint is there are alot of close corridors, but there are some wide open areas. I've only played a couple of matches, I have a baby to watch at the moment. Good game, Game Informer can go to hell, that review is terrible. I can't believe the writer even played the same GoldenEye Wii game that I just got done playing.

IGN's definitely surprises me.

However, GameInformer's is closer to what I expected, but still lower than I expected. I thought it would get a 7 at least:

O_O that review was just non-stop bashing of the game, judging from those words, I'm suprised he didn't give the game a 4 or someting.

It's game informer.

I haven't read anything from them (now I'm glad I haven't), so from your comment, I take it they like to bash Wii games.

I suspected that when I saw that the reviewer managed to sneak in the word 'gimmick' among all of the vague or outlandish complaints.

Theyre notorious for being against many highly regarded Wii games. I canceled my subscription when it got to the point that Super Smash Bros Brawl was called a flop, and NMH was given a 6. IF it has anything to do with the Wii, i wouldnt trust GI....then again i wouldnt trust most other media with reviews anyway, be them Wii or otherwise.

It's not just the Wii. Sometimes their reviews can boggle the mind. The recent Alien Vs Predator got mixed reviews, but, unless I'm mistaken, the GI review complained that the Predators had to use stealth.

did you notice the don't bother without the classic controller, game informer still struggles with the idea that people actually like shooter with the wii remote, mark my words, using the wii remote will be described as cheating within days of the games release

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked the 1Up review, over how well it was done more than the score. It looked at the game, gave a comparison to the original, but still evaluated the new game on its own merits. If GI had done that, but still didn't like the game, it likely would have been a lot better.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
