I think kowen and severhcp both make good points, it's a shame there are vindictive and spiteful people here that pick on kowen for this "meltdown", I'm pretty sure a meltdown is numenox's famous "I don't accept these numbers! or something similar, we're all allowed to debate, and had the figures gone in 360's favour (figuratively speaking) many of you would be acting the same as kowen is right now, which again, I don't think is even close to a "meltdown"!

CGI as you claim to be an abassader of both consoles (yes I know you faovur Sony) I find your recent posts/ behaviour? very unhelpful and telling. There is just this nagging gut feeling I have you're thrilled PS3 is thrashing 360 (good for you) and you show such clear passion and excitment for Sony, had this been in MS's favour, all we would have gotten from you was "that's great for Microsoft ", what Kowen said was true, just my opinion.

I wish more sony fans were gracious in victory, like Carl, Kantor, GodofWar.

Some people's true colours have come out these past few days, and it's pretty ugly.

Oh, another thing. It's wrong people can't debate these numbers at all, (like you know if a console gets adjusted 1 million we're suppose to understand and accept straight away) (yes I have seen ioi's response)) and have a flurry of insults thrown at them.

Yes, but do you see that in America the PS3 is already #3 without Nintendo or Microsoft even doing anything...also same goes for Japan and Others PS3 had Move while Wii and 360 had nothing Move like yet.

Yeah I can see it. The 360 and Wii really have the US market locked down, so the PS3 really doesn't get the highest sales there much, if at all. The same could be said of the 360 in Japan though. (360 here as a completely similar situation, 3rd place with PS3 in 1st)

One area doesn't really matter. The 360 was still 3rd in Japan despite the Slim/Reach combo. In some markets, a console just simply doesn't do as well as the competition. The 360 in Japan is a much more extreme situation though.

That's the beauty of having WW numbers to look at.

It might be 3rd place by 4k in Americas, but it's 1st place worldwide over the Wii/360 by about 55k units.

Very true! America isn't everything but it certainly is big...you have to remember though that right now Others and Japan can make up the gap in America but what happens when that gap gets a lot bigger? Wii and 360 will only go up in America and the gap will get a lot bigger. Also Others and Japan may be PS3 land right now but again Kinect and huge Wii things(Red Wii, D.K.C.R) have yet to be released and that gap in Japan and Others should shrink...All I am saying is that Sony already played almost everything with only G.T.5 left while Microsoft and Nintendo still have a good amount left. I could be wrong but in my opinion the PS3 will be #3 this Holiday for sure but with that said I see PS3 outselling the 360 Worldwide in lifetime sales with 2011 being the starting point of PS3>360

PS3 may be doing decent in Japan and Amazing in Others but I think that Sony will still be #3 Holiday 2010 because its going to fail hard in America when compared to the Wii and 360...

This week in America:

PS3__82K

Wii__86K

360__100K

PS3 is already #3 in America even with Move and 360 still has Kinect and Wii still has the Red Wii as well as tons of exclusives left. Sure PS3 has G.T.5 but Kinect should be bigger than G.T.5 in America. Also D.K.C.R should be able to have more of an effect than G.T.5 in America...throw in the Red Wii, UDraw, M.J.T.E, Golden Eye, and Sonic and you have an automatic win against the PS3 in America.

Did you look at the Japan and EMEAA charts for this week? lol

Before we start, the Wii outsold the PS3 by 4k and the 360 outsold the PS3 by 18k in America.

Japan (Rounded to nearest 1000) -

PS3  -20k
Wii - 12k
360 - 2k

EMEAA (Rounded to nearest 1000) -

PS3 - 142k
Wii - 86k
360 - 82k

Now in Japan the PS3 leads the Wii by 8k, and leads the 360 by 18k. Both of the American differences are already gone. The PS3 is  already ahead of the Wii by 4k actually.

EMEAA sales added, the PS3 leads the Wii by 56k here, and the 360 by 60k.

Do you see how the American differences of 4k/18k don't really mean all that much in the bigger picture?

Yes, but do you see that in America the PS3 is already #3 without Nintendo or Microsoft even doing anything...also same goes for Japan and Others PS3 had Move while Wii and 360 had nothing Move like yet.

The Americas market is slightly smaller than EMEAA alone, as long as PS3 can keep it up in Japan it won't need the Americas to be #1 or #2.

Very surprised by PS3 awesome sales, I just came back to the site a couple weeks ago looking forward to holiday sales and now I'm even more stoked.

When the Red Wii comes out in Japan I think the PS3 and Wii will be about equal there...but yes as of now PS3 sales are good to say the least. I don't think the PS3 claimed #1 this Holiday in Japan yet as the Wii still has a chance.

Posted in here so I can be informed on new posts.

No doubt, America is huge when it comes to the Holiday season. And while the 360 and Wii will certainly do much better there than the PS3, the PS3 will still be doing reasonably well. Enough to put up a decent fight Worldwide.

Japan, could go any way. Kirby was expected to boost the Wii. It didn't. Mario Collection was expected to. It didn't. (Move was expected to boost PS3 there... It didn't).

EMEAA, even with Kinect and Red Wii/DKC, we're gonna see big numbers from PS3 there. Possibly the biggest over the Holidays just judging from recent sales.

Just so you know, I also have the PS3 in 3rd place over the last 10 weeks. i think Kinect will just push the 360 past PS3, and the Wii will have the typical holiday boosts it always has (But a far smaller one this year).

Guys, we all need to accept the reality of the situation here.

We all need to put down our computers and just stop responding all together. There is nothing to cheer about, nothing do say "OMG", "AMAZING" or "GREAT SALES" about. Now here is why.

1.) Sony came into this gen off of (2) straight 1st place finishes and will probably not recoup what they lost with the PS3 at the start of this gen, so celebrating and ignoring this fact makes you look foolish. It doesn't matter how great they have done for over a year now and how their sales are staying fairly consistent with last years sales around this time, even when we were told they wouldn't.

2.) MS is doing great, much better than anyone could have possibly expected for this generation but the truth is the truth, just like PS3 they won't recoup their losses, and not just from the 360, but from the original XBox as well, so no celebrating anything anymore. If Kinect is a HUMONGOUS success it will mean nothing as long that previous deficit created 5-8 years ago still exists.

3.) Nintendo came from last and went into first and making a ton of money, started off the gen setting all kinds of records. We should celebrate right? Wrong. Nintendo also went from setting records and having ungodly momentum to seemingly losing it all mid-generation and allowing the HD consoles to gain serious traction to the point where Wii sales dropped into last place for the home consoles.

So with this irrefutable evidence I say that we all just leave the site. Accept the reality of every company's situation and just put down those keyboards and be realistic. Ok? Time for gloating has been over for PS3/360 fans since the start of this gen and Nintendo fans gloating ended months ago.

So there, conversation is over and we are all on even ground.

As in response to the holiday discussion:

In all seriousness I think the Wii will win the holidays again with the PS3 and 360 fighting fore second in a close battle.

The last big card this year sony has is GT5. However with the Move effect still very well being there plus GT5's release will rival the kinect release and as such I expect it to be a close race. This all depends however on America's strength in the gaming market this holiday. I do expect Japan to make up for at least around say 20% of the lead unless America is exceptional strong, then I see the 360 winning by a close margin, otherwise Others will allow PS3 to win.
