Metroid should go quiet for a few years, then eventually come back to it's Prime.

I voted for co-existence but in all reality the Prime games are far superior IMO. I'll admit that Prime 2 and 3 started to feel a bit stale with no major gameplay advances and I did enjoy the freshness of Other M. It's a good game with excellent level design and I'm kind of glad they attempted something different, but Other M has some major flaws (mostly that ABYSMAL first person view required to fire missiles). But the original Prime, to me, is an easy 9.5 or 10 whereas Other M would probably be a solid 7.
Truthfully a Prime 4, if it was made by Retro, would have me way more excited than Other M 2.
They need to stop making Metroid for a while after Other M. Worst home console Metroid game ever - and I'm not saying that to be cool.

I respect what they tried to do with Other M, but honestly if they announced a sequel I'm not even sure I would get it, I certainly wouldn't be rushing out. Prime 4 would be first day without even so much as glancing at a review.
I'd like to see another Metroid with the same gameplay style as Other M but with the storytelling of the Prime series. I find Zero Mission to be my favorite Metroid game thus far, so Other M's gameplay is more up my alley than the Prime games. That said, I thought Retro handled Samus' character and the general storytelling far better than Other M did. I'd also like to see some revisions made to the general gameplay, like the inclusion of a Nunchuk control setup as well as the ability to move around while in first-person view.
I actually have an idea for a setup should they take this route, but I'll keep that to myself for a little bit.
A 2d metriod developed by retro or internally. Please use Sakamoto as a consultant. But he can't write or direct or produce. Well, actually leave him out of the loop
Other M was one of Nintendo's biggest blunders. Besides piss poor sales, it has tarnished Samus's reputation, making here a joke. Other M has either lost Sakamoto his job or put him in the back for the rest of his career. Another game like Other M will never happen. heck, we probably wont see a Metroid game for a long, long time.
make another Other M-style game. The boys at Retro were swiftly running out of ideas by the time Prime 3 hit (arguably earlier than that) and going back to that style would solve nothing except just retreading old territory. The Other M style has enormous potential that needs another go around to hit its stride. I would like to see a 2D Metroid on the 3DS, but I think the follow up to Fusion storywise should be done in the vein of Other M
Give me an Other M-styled full 3D remake of Metroid II. Whatever problems the game had, they really nailed a 3D rendition of the "feel" of 2D Metroids, at least on a level of core gameplay mechanics. I would like to see more R&D styled Metroids in this vein, though they need to restore some of the explorational elements (plot-heaviness i didn't have an issue with, and the way the game herded you to the next spot was nothing that previous Metroids haven't done, but they were more blatantly obvious about where they wanted you to go, instead of having you figure it out by process of elimination)
Though given that Other M's sales clearly sent the message that this series' sales are now utterly dependent on the USA (no matter how hard they try and cross the appeal outside the USA, as Other M was clearly an attempt to do), they may very well go back to Prime, as that's the safe bet.
But i wouldn't take issue with that at all, either, but in Prime's case they need to lean more towards Prime 1 and less towards Prime 3 when Retro Studios takes control again

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
I don't see Retro going back to Metroid any time soon, if at all. They exhausted all their ideas with Prime and I doubt they could come up with anything that could really change the gameplay to the point where we wouldn't just be playing Prime 3.5.
