Forums - Sales - Question about VGC NA Preorders. Kinect related.

Currently VGChartz lists Kinect Adventures ~175-180k and my question is this.

Is purchasing a Kinect bundle the only means of getting Kinect Adventures in NA?

If so, does that mean Kinect preorders in NA are going to be equal to Kinect Adventures?

I do not believe that Kinect Adventures is available any other way in NA.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Thanks a lot.

Now that really makes me wonder. With a $500M marketing campaign, Beiber, Seacrest, Oprah and Ellen how are they already running out of preorder stock when VGChartz only shows the bundle hovering around the ~200k mark?

I would expect much more to be available at launch with that kind of marketing push right?

Does ioi or anyone know why they would only allow such a small amount of preorder units? Is there something I am obviously missing here?

Thanks in advance.

Truth be told, they are probably going to take the Sony route in the end (bank on word of mouth), but will end up with a larger opening on Kinect based on marketing alone. Be interesting to see how it goes.

All I know is that a company says they are targeting the biggest launch in the industry's history and expect at least 3M Kinect units sold before the end of the year and are investing $500M in advertising.

Like Gamestop said before about Nintendo and many here suspected Sony of doing early in the year, I think the shortage reports are only to stimulate demand.

These NA numbers do not show me this incredibly high demand, especially since it is the XBox360's strongest territory.

I wish ioi could chime in on this. Would be great since it seems like the sold out claims only involve the Kinect Adventures bundle and not console bundles, which also come with Kinect Adventures right?

Does VGChartz' numbers count just the Kinect bundle or all bundles that contain Kinect Adventures?

I'm assuming they'll count the console bundles sales also, like I'm assuming they did for Move.

See, this is why I would like some confirmation from ioi or the Source, unless it is in the NA Preorder articles and I missed it.

If this includes everything than the 175-180k includes the Kinect/Kinect Adventures bundle, the $299 Kinect 360 Arcade and the 250GB Kinect 360 bundle.

For something this "BIG", I would expect more available preorders in your biggest region, wouldn't you?

in the end it will probably go upt 250K preorders. That means about 500k week one. Word of mouth, ads, black friday, christmas, etc. will drive kinect up to 3 million. But yes it is kind of a risk. Almost no one i know on xbox live that plays cod, halo reach, etc. looks like he/she will be buying kinect. To me personally it looks like another eyetoy (How much did that sell in the ps2 days?).  Also it seems right now the only people who are preordering kinect are the people who already own an xbox 360. I know amazon doesn't really reflect majority of the population but while kinect is at number 12, the xbox 360 itself is at 38. The kinect xbox 360 bundle is at number 49. Also from what i can tell is that COD:BO will take away some sales from kinect. I know, I know how can cod take away sales from kinect? What people need to understand is that cod really appeals to the casuals. I would actually consider cod a casual shooter. Many guys and girls would rather buy cod over kinect for christmas. Kinect to me really only appeals to the kids and maybe girls. Obviously girls and some guys like to dance so dance central will be popular. And the kids would like kinectimals and kinect adventures. I don't know if parents would be willing to shell out $300 though.

The core gamer of course will be waiting until next year for some better titles.

I wouldn't think they'd count the console pre-orders, but the sales when they'd post the week one sales.

I'm not fully sure if the console bundles are included in the figure.

These might just be the Kinect and Kinect Adventures standalone bundle thing.

I don't think they included those bundles either.
