I probably saw a dozen people in all (all ages and gender) buying starter packs in the first two weeks. What was interesting, though, was the fact that NONE of those people bought a game with it. I did see a few people asking for software recently. So there could be a sizable percentage of people who only have the starter pack (again, comes without a game) at this time which would heavily skew vgchartz statistics.
| Euphoria14 said: Actually I think I may have understood him wrong. I don't think he believes it to be a 1:1:1 ratio because that would just be stupid on SONY's part since many will buy a 2nd Move. |
Well it's definitely not being shipped at a 1:1:1 even ratio since the most common multi purchase will naturally be the Move controller itself.
I will say from personal observations that the basic controller seems to be the hardest component to find.I've yet to see one at retail personally. I see a lot of nav-con controllers and I've seen a couple Sports Champions bundles, but no separate Move controllers.
At least in San Francisco, retailers are definitely not flooding the shelves with Move peripherals. They seem to be ordered in numbers on par with DS3 and PSEye peripherals but they just don't stay in stock as long.
| Darth Tigris said: Oh God, seriously already????!!!! When seeing all of the components that make up the Move, I had a VERY bad feeling that we were going to see Sony reporting combined figures that honestly tell us NOTHING but make it seem as if the Move has a larger install base than it actually has. And here. we. are. And now with no NPD public numbers, as someone mentioned already they start touting EU numbers that can't be substantiated. Just when I started having more respect for the resurgence of the PS3, suddenly its 2006 again ... |

I have no clue. SONY priced PS3 at $599.99 and they thought people would work 2 jobs just to get one.
Some people just can't let go of the past, even when people who said these things no longer work with the company. It is like people sit around, wait for the perfect opportunity and scream out:
"Yeah, remember when Kuturagi said this? Remember when he said that?!"
Meanwhile they forget that these people haven't been there for years and it is now headed by different people.
Anyone who brings up 4 years ago gets an automatic "Oh jeez" followed by a facepalm by me.

I guess old owners of RE5 and Eyepet might pick it up without a game, but I'm skeptical that's happening in large amounts. |
That does actually appear to be the case. In Spain they've been tracking the Move Starter Pack alongside other software, and last week the Starter Pack came in 2nd overall while Sports Champions was way down at 10th.

I'll tell you
SONY DID make a few arrogant statements
but most of the press
took Kutaragi's statements and literally TWISTED them into something he never meant at all!!!!!

It seems many here refuse to believe that the Move is actually selling very well.
It was essentially penciled in as a failure right off the bat since SONY wasn't going to spend hundred of millions of dollars on advertisement and instead opted for word of mouth to carry it along.
The fact that it is selling good on word of mouth alone is what actually what makes these numbers so impressive.
