Forums - Gaming Discussion - Coming out: I'm terrible at FPS games

I'm not pro at FPS Games but I'm no way near the noob level.

If I was to rate myself, I'd be an Expert. Pro is different to Expert in my books. Pros are like totally awesome at FPS games and expert would be not quite Pro but very good at FPS. Then there are the God Like FPS players who are just beyond my skills and are omega good at FPS games.

Well, I suppose I have to give myself some credit: I'm good at certain gametypes. In Reach, when a flag needs to be captured? I'm capturing the damn flag. Especially in Hemorrhage.

Whenever I play a FPS online I usually end up killing my teammates, 'cause they're the only ones not running away from me and not shooting at me. I wonder why no one wants to play with me...

I have to admit it.  The only time I felt like I could play FPS games was when I was living in Japan because most people there were not so great.

It seems like in America, 99% of the population is given the gift to make 100 headshots a minute (exaggeration, I know).  I can do every other type of game pretty well, but it seems like FPS's are problems for me. It's too bad that in this country, I can't call myself a real gamer because of this.

The thing is, I'm actually pretty good at shooting a real gun IRL (at targets or course).

Anyone else not so great at FPS games around here?  This is the thread to come out about that.

What does it matter, that your not good at one genre of gaming. I suck at racing games, but it does'nt bother me. I consider myself a real gamer. lol

That's why the ratio is misleading. If you play a lot of objective, you're going to take a lot of risks to go after the objective that you wouldn't if you were playing straight up slayer.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

You think americans are good at shooters?Clearly you havent met some german pros!

I'm good at all FPS, no matter if CS, CoD, Halo or Quake, but I'm not a pro in any of them.

Just like in (real life) sports. I'm good at anything, but hardly awesome, which I like cause I can do all kinds of sports and it's fun and still a bit challenging at the same time (which is also true for FPS)

Like most things, practice makes perfect. I'm very good at Killzone 2 but that's because I've played it online for 80 days. I wasnt really good till about 25 days in...get the picture? It just takes constant practice. As long as you love the game, just keep playing and you'll get there eventually.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Me neither. That's probably why I never play online FPS. I downloaded the demo of Battlefield Bad Company and people staerted shouting, "Noob what the fuck are you doing?!" Not really encouraging to continue. Played some GoW2 online which I was ok in after 150 hours.

I' m pretty good at FPS. Call of Duty, Halo, killzone were always simple to me. Call of duty really doesn't take much skill at all. I'm like 2.42 or something in it. I don't really play Halo any more but I use to be really good at it. I have Halo Reach, just haven't played online yet(not sure if I want to pay 60$ to play online). Killzone 2 was very strategic for me. I won over 120 games and only lost 11 on Killzone 2. However my best genre is probably TPS. Gears of War, Metal Gear, Uncharted, those type of games are my best. But I'm not all that good at RPG's and RTS's.
