Forums - Website Topics - I think VGChartz needs a new job

So, I was thinking the other day after reading one of the news articles that VGChartz needs a new job.  Someone to go over articles, reviews and what not and check for grammatical or factual errors.  Most of the writers and staff members are pretty good, but no matter how good you are, errors are going to get through and that is why a lot of major web sites and publications have another person go over their work before it is submitted.

What do you think?  Good Idea?  I think it would go a long way in helping VGChartz look more professional.

I hope this doesn't reflect badly on us, but...

We already have both of those things.

Mind you, we don't check news articles. Those need to be put out quickly, and waiting for an editor just isn't feasible. Reviews, Features and Editorials, though, are all edited twice before being posted.

There we go, I just copy edited your post

This idea would serve a better purpose if posted on the Eurogamer forums.

EuroGamer either has the best copy editing ever, or the most brilliant writers ever.

The content...not so great, but copy editing is generally accepted to be more difficult and tedious (just ask Machina - he does both).

From my experience most items that get posted are corrected after someone publicly comments on the errors. Though I have to say its generally doesn't happen in reviews, it does happen on a lot of features there

Makes sense. It really doesn't seem possible to have editors for the news items. The best that could ever really be expected is to have another writer take a quick glance over it if they happen to be on at the same time, I'm assuming. The reviews/previews etc is where everything needs to be well-written etc, which is always seems to be :)

Being an editor I feel I must say... Shut UP! :p

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

My biggest complaint with news article is that they seem awfully bias(not to any particular console, kind of all over the place) sometime, and often with headlines or comments with in that seem to want to bait people. I dont even read them any more to be honest.

nah the only thing this site needs is the ability to post on the sales of a certain game. the new site removed it, hopefully it will come back.

it also needs video reviews, but since kantor has a girlish voice its better if were off without them.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good
