Forums - Gaming - Reviews that got you to buy a game that you were on the fence about getting

NBA 2K11, read the IGN review, and they are right. Sports game of this gen IMHO.

What about the opposite? I passed on Assassin's Creed after reading IGN's review, and I borrowed it from a friend, had fun for maybe a hour, then got bored. So good decision there :)

The worst thing is when you read an extrapolated review and you decide to go out on a limb and buy the game. I regret buying Braid based on the 9.5 GameSpot review. I thought it was a decent platformer, but more like an 8 vs. a 9.5.

Usually, I buy sequels to my favorite series (MGS, FF, GT, Uncharted, R&C, Mario, Metroid) and sometimes on hype/demos/friends opinions. But i am really cautious about buying new IPs normally.

Oddly, I bought The Witcher after watching the Zero Punctuation review. He hated it, yet a lot of what he described I knew I'd like :D

Demon's Souls, although not really from reviews at reputable sites like IGN, but instead from the many users here at VGChartz.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

GameCritic's Review of Nier: http://www.gamecritics.com/trent-fingland/nier-review

RPGamer gave it a high score, so I got interested. Then, I looked at Metacritic, and saw it had a 68 average. Wasn't sure if I should pick it up. GC is my favorite and most trusted site. There were only a few times where I disagreed with them, but for the most part, they're spot-on for me. Anyways, I read the review, liked what I read and picked it up when I had the money. So glad I listened to them. Such a great game, and currently, it's my GOTY.

Zack and Wicki reviews drew me in. The $10 price tag may have helped though.

I agree with Demon's Souls and also a RDR review convinced me to buy it

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

I would say demon souls, awesome game. I ended up buying demon souls a couple months later when gamestop was selling it for 30 bucks and never looked back. Anyways I'm really glad I gave it a chance and got it.

This. With a special mention to lestatdark.

Also, Slimebeast did a phenomenla of getting me interested in Two Worlds II. The good previews help too.
