Forums - General - Hi From Denmark

Greetings from the rather budget Copenhagen Star hotel lobby. Been here almost 2 days and off to Amsterdam tomorrow afternoon. I'm in Europe for work but have 2 free days to see some sights for the weekend. I'm under instruction to buy some Pandora stuff for the missus, and I'll probably pick up a bit of lego for kids. Took the train to Slagelse today to have a tour of the Arla Foods dairy plant, interesting.

My lasting impression of Denmark will be brick. Everything is built with brick; well nearly. That and hotdogs, haven't had one yet, but it's a bit of a must if you're in Denmark I suppose. Not game enough to try the marinated herring though.

Since arriving in Europe on Monday I've seen about 10 minutes of sun (today). That's London, Brussels and Copenhagen. Supposed to be fine tomorrow for our day off in Copenhagen; we'll see.

Will be in Amsterdam and Den Haag while in the Netherlands. And doing some day trips to Rotterdam port and some pig slaughterhouses, fun aye?

Gotta come back for an actual holiday some time.

Bcak to NZ next Friday.

Damn long flight to Europe. Nice to know you are having fun.

Why do you abandon me?

Tease.

Marinated herring is quite good.

Copenahagen is a nice city. So is Amsterdam.

Enjoy.

The pork is good. Been eating plenty of it since hitting Belgium (The Belgians think they have the best pork). The hotdogs have plenty of pork in them, and the one I had today had even more than usual given it was wrapped in bacon, Yummmy!

The other notable thing about Copenhagen is the bicycles. Not just the number of bikes, but the very retro style to the bikes. Very few modern looking road bikes around, even though the bikes are mostly new. I really like seeing the dedicated bike lanes all over the place, including in the outer towns like Slagelse. Bike lanes are sorely missing in New Zealand.

Tell me about it. 27 hours in the air, almost 48hrs total travelling with the transit stops. Made worse by flying through Aussie first as it's an extra stop, but that's what you get for flying Qantas to Europe.

You should visit south europe. Like Spain, France, Italy...

Whether is much warmer, houses don't look like churches and chics are tanned and hotter.

Don't expect anyone to talk english in Italy though...

Ah Denmark. I would love to go there and see the Lego stuff ^_^
