Currently sales for both hardware and software are fairly close between the PS3 and X360 and  with the holidays coming just around the corner some big changes could happen, what with PS3 and GT5 and the X360 with Kinect anything could happen.

So I'm asking two questions here, who will sell more hardware in 2010 and who will sell more software, PS3 or X360?

Hardware sales (week ending Sept 25th 2010):

PS3: 6,675,653

X360: 6,482,155

Software sales (week ending Sept 25th 2010):

PS3: 65,812,638

X360: 66,995,728

I think ps3 will end up winning in hardware and 360 with software.

I'd expect SW to go in 360's favour. Fable and Reach should offset a pretty good chunk of GT5. I expected Kinect to have stronger sales thanks to a more SW focused launch/holiday. Black Ops and similar games AC, Fallout ect will do better on 360.

HW, gonna be close with GT5 and Kinect in Nov.

You're asking two questions but you can only give one answer?

GT5 won't be very frontloaded. it will get the sales overtime not in the first 2 months. I think it will get max 4 million by the end of this year. Kinect software ,fable and the multiplatform games selling more on 360 should overpower gt5. But i do expect gt5 to move more consoles.

For the PS3, Gran Turismo is going to have to do most of the heavy lifting this holiday season, both for PS3 hardware and PS3 software (especially now that LBP2 has been bumped to January).

It'll be close. 360 and PS3, despite having many similar games coming up this holiday, will each have certain 3rd party games that sell a whole bunch on their respective system. 360 will have big(ger) numbers for Black Ops and FallOut. PS3 will hit big on NFS and FIFA.

Saying all of that... they look pretty close. But, with the continued Slim momentum and the release of Kinect, I think 360 will edge out the PS3 this winter, but not by much.
