Didn't Nintendo push back the N64 release date due to delays with Super Mario 64?

Yeah, well maybe GT5 is worth it considering now they have the tech to go 3D and support Move now. and surley this alone makes it the best racing game evar!!... until GT6. i suppose GT5 might be an exception, but as an FF fan, FF13 was certainly not worth the disgusting amount of time we waited. |
Yea FF13 didn't play too good.
Maybe developers should tell the gamers what they want.
Hahahaha, I can't believe some of you. You'll spin anything positive if its aimed at ... [sigh] never mind, you'll just get defensive again.
Delays are the sign of bad planning, so no they are not good. There have been many fantastic games that didn't announce a release date until they knew they could hit it. Delays hurt retailers, stockholders and gamers. And while they do often turn into a better product, not always. Many delayed games still were filled with bugs, gameplay and design problems and short campaigns.
For the PS3, many of the quality exclusives would've benefited from the exposure of the holidays. Their loss.

It's better to be delayed and have the game get its major problems ironed out, than to release a buggy and unplayable mess that would require numerous patches and piss off gamers a lot? In the case of something like Wii games, too, where they can't even really update games with patches (I think). Don't forget that bigger publishers have deadlines for some dev companies, so they don't get a chance to polish their game to its fullest. Look at the case of Metroid Other M, which has a game-breaking bug, which can't be fixed via a patch, and could have been prevented with a small delay to fix it; instead, players either have to start all over from the beginning, or send their save in via SD card to have it fixed by Nintendo themselves.
I think delays are good as long as they are pushed to holidays/good selling period.
Delays from holiday season to spring "because holiday is over crowded" don't seem to work for most developers unless It's a Rockstar title like Red Dead which would sell great no matter the time.
I would have been more happy to see Alan Wake delayed to a month that had no competition or the holiday season because it would have sold a lot better.
It's just that simple.

You haven't been lied to either, developing these games isn't an easy task (being in school for it - I know that first hand). Never mind the fact that MANY games get delayed and multiplatform games are plagued with this more than anything else. What about all of the 360 and PS3 games that released on time? If the game was rushed and released with bugs/glitches, people would moan then too. As far as I'm concerned, if the game can receive more polish and be a better end product by a delay, delay it. |
yup agreed
Nintendo console games don't get delayed this gen because Nintendo doesn't announce Game X until it's almost finished so we only have to wait 6 months for the game. Just look at Nintendo's fall line-up: DKC Returns, Kirby, Wii Party (I'm probably missing a couple) but all those got announced at E3.
Heh today I heard Delaystation 3 first time..Not bad, internet.
I got some friends that were very hyped for GT5 back in the day, last year they just got too tired of waiting. Now some of them are ofc buying it first day but they don't hype it at all.
With Duke Nukem forever, developers tried to make it best shooter at that time. Then came Quake,Cods,Medal of honors etc, and developers thought everything needs to be best before release of DNF. They started from nothing again and again, since technology evolved so fast back then and well we know the story.
Like Nobuhiro Watsuki said who is writer of Kenshin, has certain deadlines for his manga..He often said that writer without deadline is just unemployed person.
Take my love, take my land..
You guys obviously forgot SSBB, I mean, how many times was that delayed? Three Times? I still liked it, though.
Well yeah they do, but like someone else says, they announce their games too early.
