Forums - General - Akamatsu Masanori-Senior project game

Okay im a sophmore in college ( at devry sigh) and when your a senior you have to make a full game and present it to some professors and game devlopers and based on the scores you get youll pass your senior class or not (the senior class is about nothing but the project).  Most people start their senior game when their sophmores or juniors so they can polish it as much as possible so im gonna do it with with my friend.

where gonna use unity 3d engine to make it and i want to hear your thoughts on my concept for the game lol

OKay i thought i would use Akamatsu Masanori who was a samurai general in the 1500s. So basically he and his army died when an invading army attacked (http://wiki.samurai-archives.com/index.php?title=Akamatsu_Masanori) though he did beat the first set of enemies he and his army were i suppose overwhelmed by an all out assouault and they died he and his 1,100 men. But before he died he killed his family so that the invading army would not kill them (hmm).  so i thought i would set the game two weeks before the events of the attack and depending on what the character did up to those two weeks it would determine wheather or not the army would win and and if he would have to kill his family. Does it sound alright?

Oh and itll probably be 2d or 2.5 with 3d character models i suppose.

Well... what would the character be doing in the actual game if it takes place before the invasion? Or did I misread that part?

 

Depending on what the character does, the army might not even come to attack? Just throwing a suggestion out there but howabout your actions determine whether or not they win the battle, not whether or not the battle takes place. Coz who's gonna want to not fight? =P

Oh well the character would be preparing for the invasion by going to different enemy incampments and defeating them and taking their supplies. Oh yeah like you have stated i meant depending on what the character does itll determine if they win or not and whether or not the main character will have to kill his family or not. lol yeah it would be pretty boring not fighting.



Sounds pretty interesting.

Now could you be specific about "how the game will judge if the character is doing bad actions"?

And how will the gameplay be like?

Oh yeah I was thinking it would depend on how he handled the raids on enemy incampments during gameplay and how he interacts with his men. I suppose their will be different moves and depending on the moves you do you will be seen as ruthless or the type of samurai general that defeats his enemys but isnt enjoying it in a way that makes him seem like he loves killing lol.

One set of moves will be more quick kills that really dont allow for much in the way of a prolonged death to enemies.

The other set of moves  will be more brutal and will  make the main character seem a bit more evi than if he kills them quickly.

So depending on which moves are done the most the character will lean more towards that character in the story.

Also my friends wants to add small conversations with  Akamatsus soldiers and depending on the conversations between Akamatsu and the soldiers will see if hes more of a laid back or serious leader which will also determine his character.

 

The gameplay will be similiar to muramasa the demon blade except the character models will be a bit bigger and the moves done of course wont be determined by the weapon he has more the buttons pressed (i suppose). also it may be 2.5d but i am not sure yet i prefer just 2d.
