ive come across two in cave systems and two on the surface. one of the surface ones was an exposed zombie spawn so they died after spawning in day time.

If you make your own mines, I'd suggest trying exploring caves. Be careful and take plenty of wheat (for when you aren't in a hurry to heal), chops (for when you are), and arrows (because zombies are friggin Terminators in multi -- lag?). Also you want wood to make more stuff with -- like torches. Coal won't be a problem
Apparently just exploring the surface has been good for goddog, but I've never found one like that here or in single and I wouldn't bet on it if I were you.

server is up to version 1.3 took a bit to convert the map, let me know if there are any issues, as it was backed up before the conversion. seems to be runnign smoother on local clients now, but a tad rougher on the server

I really like the new Minecraft so far. It loaded fast -- none of that "ten seconds falling through space" -- and I think the graphics are much improved -- shading on the blocks or something.
I tried to get a record by making a skeleton shoot a creeper to death. 3 creepers, 8 skeletons, and hundreds of arrows later, all I have to show for it is a big hole in the ground. I thought they would always drop a record? I know for a fact that the creeper died, and skeletons were the only thing that could have done it.
