Yeah obviously DR2 is going to sell poorly, just look at all the Capcom flops on the Wii;)

I'm struggling to think of any (bar Chop til you drop :)

OT: It was expected, imagine releasing THAT and Monster Hunter Tri in the same week...

Both the same premisis, in effect, both the same amount of advertising. It went down to reviews and which looked cooler. Therefore Tri won

Well actually Capcom has only had a couple of flops on the Wii, Spyborgs and Deadrising. It's also had a few million sellers. What's more games like Okami, Monster Hunter G and the RE Archive games are just ports and are essentially all profit! Wii development is also rather cheap compared to 360 and PS3 development.

I should imagine the break even point on Wii is substantially less than the break even point on big HD games like Lost Planet 2 and Dead Rising 2. I can imagine that with numbers like these off two franchises that Capcom clearly put a lot of money into and valued highly they will be worried for the future of other franchises.

People like to look at the Wii and call failures, but there have been an awful lot of flops of the other systems too.

What does that have to do with Dead Rising 2 flopping??

Like how people are using any excuse to take down a HD game, and yet a Wii game can never do bad.

The mediocre golf game, the rushed 360 down-port, the Gamecube ports, or the subpar brawler? Because there's a reason why they didn't sell.

The games Capcom actually put effort into on Wii actually made money, it seems.

The only gamecube port is RE 4 and it has 1.78 million sales. It was released in 2007 as well. Back when Wii had something like 1/4 the hardware sales. That was NOT a flop. It would have made money even if it was a Wii exclusive. Hell it outsold Darksiders despite virtually no development cost.

Edit: And that mediocre golf game outsold either resident evil archive game.

Edit P.S: If somone says something that you disagree with assume it's bad sarcasm. Half this thread is just people argueing over eachothers sarcastic remarks.

You're new here aren't you? This must be like the 1st thread I've seen about taking out a HD game, yet literally HUNDREDS of threads taking about "X Wii game is a flop- we need it on the PS360". Then it gets ported over because of crybabies. Then people complain about no good wii-exclusive games- because people like you whine too much. Get a grip.

If i remember correctly, they wanted it to sell like 3 to 4 million.

The original projection was 3.7 million (lol).  Capcom eventually kept paring that down until it was just 2.2m at last count, and the game ended up shipping just 1.5m (and will likely never ship another copy).

For legitimate "Capcom flops" on consoles this gen, I'd say it's just...

  • We Love Golf (Wii) somewhat significant, should've made it mascot based
  • Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes (Wii) PS2 port, not a huge loss
  • Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (PS3) 360 port, not a huge loss
  • Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop (Wii) outsourced on the cheap, not a huge loss
  • Bionic Commando (360/PS3/PC) significant
  • Spyborgs (Wii) somewhat significant
  • Dark Void (360/PS3/PC) significant
  • Lost Planet 2 (360/PS3) significant
...and upcoming...
  • Lost Planet 2 (PC) "free" port essentially, not a huge loss
  • Dead Rising 2 (360/PS3/PC) could go either way imo
  • DmC (360/PS3) lol
  • Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor (360) but it's subsidized by MS anyway

The issue with spyborgs is that VGchartz only tracks America. It was No.1 over here in the UK for a good couple of weeks!

I'd say the actual figure is roughly .20 million, then it ain't so bad :)

well im enjoying DR2 right now...but most of the time i find that capcom (and japanese developers in general) just dont "get it"
