The Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection is due to arrive in stores at the end of October. It will feature the game, all previously released add-ons and a special code to download “Stig’s Garage Car Pack”. This new content is the first indication of a deal that Forza Motorsport and Top Gear have penned which will bring content from the worldwide hit television show to future releases in the Forza Motorsport franchise.

In addition to the Stig car pack, there will be an Xbox Live Theme and  ninety minutes of “specially edited” Top Gear TV content (we assume that means jokes about truckers and hookers will be omitted…) on Xbox Live when the Ultimate Collection is released.

Stig’s Garage, in case you’re curious, contains:

  • The Koenigsegg CCX
  • Lexus LFA
  • Mercedes Benz SLS-AMG

Time to get Forza back in the 360 then…

Top Gear and Forza Motorsport have signed a multi-year collaboration

Microsoft has announced that the Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection released in October will signify the start of a long-tem collaboration with the BBC's Top Gear show.

The news will come as a blow to Sony and Polyphony digital who announced a similar deal to include the Top Gear test track and therecently revealed Stig's Challenges in upcoming racer Gran Turismo 5.

“Bringing together Top Gear and Forza Motorsport is a natural fit”

The deal will also include the integration of "the Top Gear brand in future versions of Forza Motorsport products" and the deal will also "deliver a number of co-promotions that aim to give fans of both Forza Motorsport and Top Gear a unique opportunity to engage in both brands."

“Bringing together Top Gear and Forza Motorsport is a natural fit,” said Turn 10's Dan Greenawalt. “Top Gear is all about automotive passion and playing around with cars which is exactly what we deliver with Forza Motorsport games. We are looking forward to collaborating with their team to bring some of what they do so well on television to our game design process.”

Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection launches on 29 October and will provide access to "90 minutes of specially edited Top Gear TV content" and "Stig’s Garage Car Pack" featuring The Koenigsegg CCX, LEXUS LFA, and Mercedes Benz SLS-AMG, via Xbox Live.

Amazing...just in time for my racing rig setup.

I may have to take out a bank loan to get 3 Xbox 360s, and 3 copies of the game...but I will have 3 screen forza 3 setup by end of october. Its the only console game that supports this...or does GT5 support it as well?

Very interesting.

I wonder if it will help out sales quite a bit if it gets some coverage on the show.

Maybe even if they advertise it? I imagine Sony are planning to use the Top Gear implementation in GT5 as a push in the UK.

Forza Motorsport 4 in Turn 10 mind for sure.. Ships October 2011

Neat. Top Gear is one of my favourite shows and it has a pretty world-wide appeal and audience from what I know. This might help Forza get a bit more exposure in other regions. I don't think it'll be anything substantial but it definitely can't hurt its growth as a franchise.

I know people that watch Top Gear but I never have. Otherwise I guess some cool things can come from this deal. I'm just interested in getting this Ultimate Collection.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Top Gear aside (cos I don't reckon it'll do much tbh) I think MS will advertise Forza 3 a lot this xmas to offset as much GT5 damage as possible.

Nah. I don't think MS is scared. They know full well (moreso than any of us as they actually do the crazy analysis) that GT5 is just about an unstoppable sales force. I think they're trying to capitalize on that fact by reminding everyone of it's own competing franchise right around the launch of GT5. This will create a lot of buzz as comparisons are drawn between the two games giving more publicity to the Forza franchise. I expect GT5 to thrash Forza in most aspects in these comparisons (graphics and amount of content for sure) but it may also highlight things Forza does better (I can't give specific examples as we won't know until GT5 is out).

Now these comparisons may not extend beyond the eyes of forum dwellers like us but it has the potential to be brought up on a more casual website like Yahoo or something and give Forza more exposure.

This coupled with the possible exposure it might receive from Top Gear in the future will only grow the franchise. They know full well that GT5 will sell immensely regardless.
