Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo thinks 4 million 3DS will sell in a month, and 15 million games.

certainly possible. im sure if nintendo produces enough units then yes, i think they will reach that mark. as for the software thing....maybe.

A price drop soon after is likely if they feel they can meet the demand.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I think it will, for me the price will be $250 tops....

I'm interested in how 15 Million games in total can be sold from Launch games in a Month.

15 / 4 = 3.75 gamers each.  Even the current DS has a higher attach ratio than that.

If they hit the 4 million hardware mark, they will almost certainly top the 15 million software mark.

Who's going to buy ~4 3DS games in a month? x_x

That would be like ~380$ spent on the system in a month. that's an insane ammount for a portable.

it's funny some people here think the 3DS appeals to more people than the iphone does.. realize not even the iphone sold 4 million its first month...

It had buyers lined up to sell through through all 1.7 million units hours before the stores opened on launch day (probably a good deal more than 4 million people total were hoping to get one). The supply is still not enough for people to walk into a store to get one.

The retailers who are reselling the games.

LOL yes. I always forget that they mean shipments and not actual costumer sales.

That's possible then... I guess.

I think 3DS is not only going to ship 4 million WW first month, it is going to SELL 4 million WW first month (and more if there are enogh supplies). Those people who say such numbers don't make sense forget that when not supply constrained, the Wii sold in one month a record breaking 3.8 MILLION IN THE US ALONE. Yes it was the holidays and March isn't, and yes it was a somewhar different price level, but we are talking here about the next big hyped thing, glasses less 3D. People are brainwashed day and night about 3D, and suddenly you have this handheld that enables glasses less 3D gaming...

All this on the assumption that someone like Apple doesn't one-up them by coming out with a similar device (as far as the 3D) around launch. Then all bets are off, because a lot of their thunder will be stolen. It will still sell well to gamers (after all Apple wont have the same games), but not by the same amount.

As to 15 million games, I can see that but only shipped, not sold. No way most people will go to such an expense as buying the 3DS and also buy 4 3DS games on that same launch month...

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Kinda like way too high. Nintendo seems to be kinda crazy lately, and not in a positive way.

Above: still the best game of the year.

4m is likely speaking of shipped units. I don't see how in about one month in each territory it couldn't reach 4m. It's gonna be sold out with less units probably...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)
