@ jarrod. How is it likely overtracked? And do you have any proof at all that the game cost a lot to make? I can understand the ad campaign, but dev costs for the game itself... No.

@Mr.Metrelha It's at 500k... Since release in May. It's obviously not going to stop at 500k. You can't say it's a flop after it's a pretty small game that's sold 500k in 4/5 Months. And you must know, it's not just the big games that sell during the Holiday season.

I might add, the fierce competition on HD consoles limits what a game can sell. Fuck, do people expect most HD owners to buy even a 6th of 3rd party core games that come out, I'd be broke

Yeah, there's really no getting around it.  Even 440k (which is likely greatly overtracked) is an epic bomb for game with the development and promotional budget Blur likely got.

Just as an aside, a game is a flop if it sells under a million in this day and age. A million is an average for games and can be hit easily on any system.

It's worth noting also that they're very similar games. Releasing in the same Month as eachother.

And the PS3 versions also had ModNation Racers to contend with too. Which also coincidentally has sold 500k so far.

That's quite ironic, considering which Wii games have been used to gauge the success of core games on the platform. Zack & Wiki, Deadly Creatures, No More Heroes etc., games that wouldn't have done better in any significant way on the HD consoles.

Then along comes Blur and its lackluster sales are blamed on fierce competition or it not being a good game in the first place. So anything below an 85 on Metacritic must be mediocre now for people who still consider the gaming media to be credible.

But anyway, that's besides the point. Let's go back to the beginning of this stack of quotes. You said that any great game will sell well on the HD consoles, following a statement from Mr. Puggsly that the only games that flopped on PS360 were not good games period. Both of you are wrong and there's really no way around it.

One more thing about the Wii: It's the only console this generation that has third party publishers shake in fear because the competition from Nintendo is so fierce. Have you ever heard anyone complain about the strength of Microsoft, Sony or one of the big third party publishers (like EA and Activision) taking away too many of the sales? Nope, didn't happen.

My favourite parts were when Mario Kart outsold the GTAs and then NSMB Wii creamed MW2, now Pokemon crushes Halo and we get to see Donkey Kong smash Gran Whatsitsname to pieces and Nintendo didn't even have to use Miis.

It's a good job Nintendo is being so lazy.

Just for the record, in my opinion, Madworld and Conduit are flops. Not such bad epic flops as the HD flops that cause companies to go bankrupt, because a Wii games have much less budget as HD games.

Also, the Wii has better 1st party support than 360 and Ps3 combined, that's why 3rd parties always struggle on Nintendo systems. They can't match Nintendo quality. Look at the top sales of all time. Only one game from Rockstar and Gran Turismo 3 in the top 25, the remaining its all Nintendo.
