Nintendo has just confirmed that Donkey Kong Country Returns will release for Wii on 3 December.

The comeback, which our own esteemed editor Neil categorically said would "never happen" in our pre-E3 podcast, has in fact happened after all, and the proof will out just prior to Christmas.

We are breakfasting on banana slices and our own words these days.

As everybody except Neil knows, Donkey Kong Country Returns has been in the baby-soft hands of Retro Studios, the collective responsible for the utterly terrific Metroid Prime series.

It is a side-scrolling adventure, just like the SNES original, which features Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong working in tandem to recover a lost banana hoard. Two-player co-op, a series first, features throughout.

It is coming together splendidly, as we found out when we played it in August.

So. Donkey Kong Country Returns on 3 December. Make lots of sticky reminder notes.

Ahh bit later than I thought butystill it should be on everyones wish list.

I suspected a release during the middle of November, however Donkey Kong Country should perform even better during its first month of sales. I also suspect a Metacritic score of 92%~

I wouldn't be suprised if it got less than 80% on metacritic, you knwo how critics are these days, and Yes I though it could come in the November range but it seems it will be close to Christmas.

I've waited over a decade for a 2D DKC!

And December is a good month

dunno why most companies are afraid to release games in it!

EA obviously aren't afraid to release sequels after sequels of FIFA  and other sports games.

I like that date for Others as it is good for Wii sales...by then 360 Slim and Halo Reach should have slowed down in Others by December.
