    We are talkng about sales here, only game on that list that could beat Gears in sales is Diablo III (Star Craft is 2012). The Old Republic probably could if you gave it some time, but it wont in 2011 thats for sure. Funny part is that the only games that has the potential to be better is also Diablo III and The Old Republic imo. Also Starcraft (which again wont be out before 2012)

    Also GoW is and always will be God of War please don't call Gears GoW.

    First, I don't see the point in only counting sales made in 2011, and not throughout the lifetime of the games that are released in 2011. If so, then why not count the sales of Starcraft 2 and WoW: Cataclysm, and other games released in 2010, that will easily sell millions in 2011?

    Second, Diablo 3's sales will be in a whole other level than Gears 3. Diablo 2 should have over 10 millions sold by now, and Diablo 3 will sell at least 15 millions.

    And why ignore Guild Wars 2?! The first Guild Wars sold over 6.5 millions, more than both Gears of War 1 and 2. And GW2 has A LOT of hype around it.

    As for The Old Republic, if it becomes a great game, it will easily make more money than Gears of War 3. Star Wars Bioware PC-Centric F2P = Filthy Money.

    I don't even understand what you are trying to pull here... I said that Diablo III would sell more did i not? I also said The Old Republic could sell more did i not? But i don't think it will do in 2011. Guild Wars is a free MMORPG, so i guess you are right it could sell more, but i doubt it, not in 2011 anyway.

    I don't see how the fact that you think Diablo III will sell 15 million is releveant? But since you started it... I don't think so.  My guess 9-10 million lifetime sales.

    best selling game one 1 console yes, and maytbe game of the yr. but not yhe best game. to many other great games are coming out next yr. theres a list of Sony, Nintendo and multiplatform titles hitting the market hard! the 8 i'm most intissapatting are

    Starcraft 2 is selling pretty poorly for a Starcraft game. It may not outsell Gears 2, in my opinion most likely not, why would all these other games which in the past have sold more poorly, somehow outsell Gears?

    Well I just play with people who don't miss with the torque bow. lol Only place I've seen mortars go through roofs is open roofs like in River.     I would still contend that no other multiplayer experience is as visceral, or rewarding as deathmatch on Gears. 

    However the inconsistency finally drove me away.  It's cool that you've never been on the recieving end of a crap connection but it happened too frequently for my sanity.  Inconsistent hit detection, inconsistent weapon power, team host advantage, lag-switching...these things ruined what would otherwise still be my favorite game.

    That being said, I'm eagerly anticipating three and hoping that lots of this stuff gets fixed so I can return to Gears multiplayer.

    Yes, but Gears of War 2 didn't ruin Gears of War for you, and you loved the game. Thats why you are still excited about Gears 3.

    My point was that just becaue Gears 2 multiplayer ruined Gears for some, those people can't generalize their claims as the majority. The game has received higher review score, and has sold more, there is no reason to beleive Gears 3 won't sell well. To me it's a more complete experience.

    That kind of total is not nearly enough to top the year for sales, not even close. Just look at VGC's worldwide yearly chart, there are far too many big games releasing every year for 5 million to be a contender.     I think the blog is reffering to new games. Of course Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resorts, and most likely FlingSmash will outsell Gears of War 3, they all come bundled with a controller, or the console itself. However how many new games will outsell Gears 3?

    The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is definatly a contender, and Nintendo will probably make some other 10 million plus title (Wii relax, Wii Party 2, it could be anything). Modern Warfare 3, Pokemon Black/White, and GTA V are other contenders, but other then that what else is there? Thats only 5 games, potentially...

    In the past the only games to outsell Gears this gen are Call of Duty, Halo, Wii --, Mario Kart, Pokemon, Brain Age, Nintendogs, Super Mario Bros/Galaxy, Smash Bros, GTA, Mario & Sonic, Mario Party, and Animal Crossing (DS). How many of these games are having sequels in 2011?

    Personally I beleive Pokemon B&W, Zelda, a new Wii --- game, MW3 WILL outsell Gears of War 3. I don't think the 3DS will have many mega blockbuster titles until 2012 (generally first year sales are slow on handhelds). I think any 3DS game released in 2011 will surpass Gears 3 sales only in the years after 2011 since handheld games generally sell over time. Maybe 1 will beat Gears 3 in 2011, thats all I will give credit to.

    So 5 games for sure, one or two more as maybe's. Thats enough to says Gears won't be the biggest game in 2011.

    However will it be the biggest HD exclusive? Damn straight it will be.

    Gears of War 3 will most likely be the best selling HD exclusive. Sony isn't making any big new IP's and I really doubt games like Killzone 3 will triple their sales in the new installment. Uncharted 3 has the outside chance, but with both prior installments selling 3-4 million, I doubt it.

    Then again, MS has the habit of announcing something BIG at E3. Forza 3 and Gears 2 were announced the year of release, and ODST wasn't far from that.

    I'm not even considering Sony will put out something that successful. Its not often IPs go from modest sales to mega seller. They would have to put out a big new IP for that to happen.

    Zelda will likely be a big seller long term. It has the potential to outsell Gears 3 long term, it won't happen in 2011.

    What makes you say this? We don't have any data on how the first Starcraft sold (its sales pattern), and I'm not sure our current data counts Korea at all, which is easily its biggest market.

    Worldwide, I'd bet on it easily topping any Gears title (though its western sales are weaker).
