Forums - Sales - PSN Titles Raked In 5.7M For The Month Of August

Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment have released sales figures for PlayStation Network conducted by their Research & Analysis division, revealing that the online service netted an estimated $5.7 million from PSN titles (excluding PSOne Classics or downloadable full PS3 retail titles).

Revenues were 20% up from the previous month, ensuring that August was a particularly strong month.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World saw 117,000 purchases through the PlayStation Store within the month, eclipsing that of its XBLA release which saw only 38,000 sales. It was Castle Crashers, Shank, Zen Pinball and Joe Danger that occupied the placings within the rest of the top five, each selling an equally reputable amount of units.

"Playstation Network proved strong in August, especially for marquee title Scott Pilgrim," said Benjamin Schlichter, Director of Research & Analysis at FADE. "This title was one of the few instances where a game based on a movie was better received than the movie itself."

Top 5 PSN Titles for August 2010, by revenue:

* Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Ubisoft) - 117,000 units ($9.99)

* Castle Crashers (The Behemoth) - 27,000 ($14.99)

* Shank (The Behemoth) 23,000 ($14.99)

* ZEN Pinball (Zen Studios) 27,000 ($9.99)

* Joe Danger (Hello Games) 14,000 ($14.99)

PlayStation Network revenues were up an impressive 20 per cent for the month of August, according to a recent study.

VG247 report that figures compiled by Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment (FADE) indicate the service netted $5.7 million in August.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World led the way with 117,000 downloads, followed by Castle Crashers with 27,000 and Shank with 23,000. ZEN Pinball and Joe Danger completed the top five.

Scott Pilgrim's timed exclusivity deal worked wonders for Sony. Ubisoft's movie tie-in only managed 38,000 downloads when it later launched on Xbox 360.

Sony's figures are a long way off matching stats for Xbox Live Arcade however. Earlier this week FADE claimed that Microsoft's service brought in $17.5 million over the same period.

Scott pilgram game sold well....to bad the movie did poorly.Hopelly SPVTW will do well on dvd and blue ray.
